Junk in the desert
I’m not sure what this metal object used to be, but it was sitting in the desert on the ranch in Arizona. I loved the contrasting textures and light and shadows so I had to shoot it!
An Fear Marbh san uisce
An Fear Marbh, or “The Dead Man” in English lies off the coast of Co. Kerry. I posted another photo of the island taken on the same night as this one here, but it was such a beautiful evening I took quite a few shots!
Blue Doors
Blue doors in Bantry, Co. Cork.
Empty road on Slea Head
An empty road curves around Slea Head, Co. Kerry on a beautiful September day in 2006.
Great ball of flame
Sunrise over Blarney a few days ago. There was a thin layer of cloud on the horizon that nicely blocked out much of the light of the sun allowing me to capture this early morning sun. It’s amazing to think that the light we see takes 8 minutes to travel the immense distance between the…
Guide Me
Guide Me, a boat left high and dry above the beach at Baile Na nGall in Co. Kerry. Declan from O’Learys Camera World rang this morning. My lens has arrived. I’ll go collect it tomorrow!
Exit
This way to the EXIT. This is a sign in Biosphere 2 in Arizona. Can you imagine how enticing it would be to get out of a building after spending a year inside there? Declan from O’Learys rang this morning. Good news. He got on to the boss at the Sigma repair company who told…
A Rainbow over Cobh
A rainbow brightens up the dark clouds threatening Cobh in Co. Cork in late 2006. You can see Cobh Cathedral in the background, and I’d swear the boats in the foreground are still there in the same position all these years later ..
The legacy of Bertie Ahern
Bertie Ahern, who recently announced his resignation as Taoiseach or Prime Minister of Ireland was well known for opening all sorts of events and buildings. Plaques with his name dot the country. PS. This image is now hosted on my own server where I have some referrer checks. If you don’t see it in your…
Sheep in a Kerry field
Sheep in a Kerry field Wooah, digging into the archives here. This was shot in September 2006 while on holiday in Dingle. It’s a field on Slea Head at the tip of the Dingle Peninsula. It’s hard to see in the web version but I love the brooding clouds in the large image!
Reflections of the city
Reflections of the city Cork City Hall and the urban lighting on both sides of the River Lee are reflected in the water at night. I took this back in October 2006 when the Elysian hadn’t reached it’s glorious present day height. I venture to say that a photo of this scene now would feature…
Conor Pass Hills and Clouds
Conor Pass Hills and Clouds This image broke my heart. I spent a long time trying to get the darkened sky layer and the brightened ground layer to merge nicely but I’m still not happy with it. This small web version looks almost ok but I can still see the offending bits that are wrong.
