Laughter in the English Market

It’s not all doom and gloom for shopkeepers. These ladies were obviously having a great ol’ chat in this shop in the English Market last month. Another shot from the WW photowalk on July 18th. I seem to be getting a couple of good ones out of that day after all!

The shop is closed Today

A corner shop in the English Market has a simple but effective way of shutting up shop for the day. Put a broom stick across the entrance! The English Market is completely roofed over and locked tight at night so I guess traders feel reasonably safe with minimal security precautions. That’s what’s wonderful about the market. It’s in the centre of Cork City yet it feels like an entirely different place, like a village market with stalls. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a tourist in Cork. The stag in the English Market

Anyway, that shot was on my mind when I took this photo and I really like how it turned out! Aperture ƒ/4 Camera Canon EOS 20D Focal length 10mm ISO 1600 Shutter speed 1/50s

Pig’s Head

Pig’s Head Apparently there’s a market for pig’s heads. I’ll eat all sorts of meat products, and I’ll eat them with little prompting but a pig’s head? I shot these two heads in the English Market last weekend. An American couple were looking at me as I shot this and afterwards the girl posed while her boyfriend took a photo. Gruesome!
