Covid-19 precautions in a Dunnes Stores at the cash registers. Dealing with us, the public, is hard enough in normal times. In Covid times it must be absolutely awful.

A street light shines through the fog on a gloomy night recently. Many parts of the country had fog warnings but for someone on foot it lent a mysterious feel to ordinary scenes.

As we head into what is often described as a dreary month, especially after the festivities in December, here’s a reminder of the glorious Autumn colours last year. Spring won’t be long now!

The Gap of Dunloe in Co Kerry in February 2007. I was up there recently and it couldn’t have been more different. A storm blew down the valley making life miserable for anyone walking the roads or trying to take photos of this scenic area.

April 2006 and the Grand Parade was the scene of some merriment. Food and produce stalls were erected and entertainers entertained.
Note that they’re standing on the road? Now they’d be on the large pavement on the library side of the road!

Way back in 2005 before the Elysian was built. Look at all the buildings that are gone now:
This view from the City Hall car park is no longer possible of course because the Elysian and new development along Alert Quay gets in the way. The new development is welcome but building more and more offices and hotels is a mistake. We need more residential development.

Catching the air on a Rukos skateboard in Emmett Place, Cork. September 2005.
I published a few more photos here a couple of years ago. You’ll recognise the skateboarder in one or two of the images!
