St. Finbarr’s Oratory at Dawn
Nine exposures, three positions, and a lake disturbed by a biting wind. That’s what it took to stitch this panorama together at Gougane Barra just after dawn. The sky refused to cooperate with anything dramatic, so I leaned on the scene itself: the oratory sitting quietly on its spit of land, the water holding just…
The Apocalypse Hotel
I was walking by the harbour in Castillo Caleta de Fuste, passing some shops and hotels when I saw yet another hotel but this one was vaguely interesting. It has some eye-catching lines, and the shadows of the hotel next door fell on it, hiding the lower levels. Video to watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxxZxybENWE Things to shoot…
A Bridge to Wandesford Quay
Cork’s newest bridge is a new pedestrian or cycle bridge that spans the River Lee from Wandesford Quay to Lambley’s Lane. You’d be forgiven if you’re not familiar with either area, as they aren’t exactly the most trafficked areas in the city. If you’re curious, Lambley’s Lane is off to the side of the old…
Kennedy Quay Panorama
Kennedy Quay in Cork in February 2024 before the R&H Hall building was demolished. Look to the right, and you’ll see Albert Quay and the new buildings there. This whole area will look quite different in only a few years.
Llafranc at Night
The Spanish coast of the Mediterranean is a sea of artificial light, making astrophotography pretty difficult to do, but it does make for interesting panoramas. The original merged image is over 9,000 pixels wide and full screen, it’s great to zoom in and scroll around.
A Panoramic Sunrise
The good weather is well and truly gone now, so here’s a sunrise from a few days ago to remind you what the sky above the grey clouds and rain looks like. 🙂
Construction of the Camden Quay Hotel
The old site of the hotel on Camden Quay is being redeveloped. It’s gone through many phases over the years, and it’s soon to be a 3 star hotel.
The Three Sisters at Sunset
The Three Sisters on the Dingle Peninsula just as the sun sets.
Clouds Float over the Conor Pass
A vertical panorama of the Conor Pass, July 2022.
Leaving El Caminito del Ray
The valley of El Caminito del Ray lies just behind the cliffs on the right. It was a spectacular walk in rural Spanish countryside near Malaga.
Along the road in Ballycanneen
The sun set over the Dingle Peninsula in July this year. A lovely evening to be out photographing the end of the day.
Coumeenoole in July
Coumeenoole Beach last July. Lots of people on the beach, and despite the warning signs, plenty in the water too!
