30 July 2007 - A child playing in the sandThis little girl was playing in the sand on the beach as we walked past. Plenty of toys about, but I don’t think she had built a sand castle yet. It’s lovely to see children playing in the sand. It’s an age of innocence and (sometimes) simple joy that we forget as adults.
A few weeks before Adam was born we went down to Garrettstown Beach in Co. Cork. The sun was shining, it was warm and the beach had a good number of people on it. Beautiful day!
27 June 2007 - Splendor in the grassIt’s so wonderful to see small little daisies growing up all on their own surrounded by grass everywhere. When the sun is shining and there is nothing to do except eat a nice picnic and stroll by the beach I’m in heaven.
I shot these bright little daisies down in Garrettstown, Co. Cork a few months ago.
26 April 2007 - The Atlantic Manor Hotel DemolishedThe Atlantic Manor Hotel stood for many a year at Garrettstown in Co. Cork and is even still listed on a travel website but it is gone now. Ryan visited there a while back and took some great interior shots of the decaying ruins before they disappeared.
A JCB operator was clearing up some of the rubble when we happened to drive past last year and as luck would have it, I only had my wide angle lens so I was limited in what I could shoot unfortunately. It does force you to learn a new discipline and work with what you have though.
We drove past there recently and all that remains is barren wasteland. People still have their memories.
Jacinta and Adam are possibly coming home today. I’m very happy (and tired!)
