Purple Flowers

Purple flowers that crept into my garden from next door. I’m not complaining because they’re very pretty!

Now that’s something nice from a neighbor’s yard you don’t mind having in yours! They are pretty.
How do you get your photos to full size on the site? Mine come out much smaller…………
Hi! The flower pics are amazing! I need a name and picture of a flower that is purple and is kind of frayed at the ends of the pedals i guess you could say. It has Linear leaves a Enitre Margin its a Monocot and its veins run parellel. I really hope you find it and post it on your website! I think it has to do something with a chicken foot or some thing but if you find it that would be great! Thanks so much!

They’re called “Blathanna Corcora”. They’re only found in Ireland and are grown by a man called Richard Ceann.

Ashley – I was joking when I said they were only available in Ireland as Bobbi was so rude. You should check your local garden center. I’m sure they’re available in most temperate areas.

Caity – multiple question marks aren’t a very polite way of asking a question. It’s rather demanding an answer. When s/he didn’t get a response immediately he repeated it within an hour. That person has obviously not been back here since, shows how much they really care about that question!
I wish my neighbor hap gorgeous purple flowers that would grow over into my yard instead he give me plenty of those darned blackberries. Consider yourself blessed.
I love those purple flowers and you really have a great picture of them:) I have lavender penstemon that’s a little similar to what they look like before opening up. Have never seen anything quite like them, though. Will definitely have to try to find them to add to my garden.:)

I did a web search for “Blathanna Corcora” and can’t find it anywhere. I have a very similar flower in my garden, in fact, I think it’s the exact same one, but I don’t know the name. I wanted to do a search for more flowers of this kind, to make sure that this one photo wasn’t the only one that looked similar, but that isn’t coming up. Not even in several plant searches I’ve done. Do you happen to know the common name? Or another name? Thanks.
Tiea – sorry, I should have explained earlier. “Blathanna Corcora” is the Irish for “Purple Flowers”. That was for the benefit of confusing Bobbi who was so rude, but I forgot to mention it later. Good luck find them. They’re very persistent little flowers though.
donncha, while watching a movie concerning lovers lives which were changed by a chance meeting and a first kiss in ireland, these flowers( i imagine) loomed throughout the backdrop of ireland. since that viewing, i’d been haunted day and night by the thoughts of them. now, with your “Blathanna Corcora”, i no longer feel the urge to continue my common name search. allowing “the irish for purple flowers” to satisfy the drive; however, not surpressing the beauty in them.
Hey I was wondering, there was a post about a movie filmed in Ireland where a chance encounter changes their lives. I believe this movie was PS I love you. I also have been trying to find the name of the purple flowers in this movie, they first appear in a planting pot in a home garden, but later in the movie they (well I believe it is the same flowers) are seen growing in the wild, can you please e-mail the common name of these flowers. Other than the movie reference I’m not plant expert and don’t know best how to describe them.

Looks like they’re a type of Campanula or bell flower. There’s lots of varieties, it looks like maybe Campanula portenschlagiana, or Wall Bellflower, but I’m no expert.

I believe that is clematis…a gorgeous climbing, flowering vine.
The flower in the movie was noted as being purple irises on another website.
