The River Lee in Cork shot from the Nano Nagle Bridge (erected in 1985 to commemorate Cork’s 800th birthday). Far off in the distance is Holy Trinity Church as well as Parliament Bridge. That ugly building on the right is where the IDA have their offices. What an eye sore.
Another version of this shot tomorrow. I couldn’t decide which one I liked best so I decided to post both!

Guysal Ltd must had an office on Cornmarket Street some time ago as the phone numbers above aren’t valid Cork numbers any more. Both should have a “4″ prefix now. This wall was exposed during the extensive construction work on the old Guy and Company building on that street.
Guysal Ltd are now in Ovens, Co. Cork.

This is the harbour at Castletownbere with an impressive cloud hanging over the water. It may possibly be the same cloud over Allihies Beach but that’s probably just wishful thinking on my part. Both photos were taken close in time to each other so maybe ..

The olive stall in the English Market, Cork is a well known part of this indoor market. There is always a queue of people waiting to bu some of their delicious produce.
If you like the olives you get in jars, try some fresh ones. You’ll be blown away by the flavour!

Trolleys outside Quinnsworth Tesco in Douglas last weekend. There’s such manic building going on in Douglas right now it’s a nightmare for any driver trying to get around the place. Hopefully it won’t last too much longer but they seemed to be digging up the carpark there for ages. Now it’s on to the road with bored signallers waving traffic on or stopping it as their mood dictates.

This memorial hangs on an outside wall of University College Cork (UCC) but I’m fairly sure not many people have read it as it’s in an obscure corner of the college on Gaol Walk.
The memorial commemorates members of the rebel forces who died during the War of Independence and the Irish Civil War in the early 1920’s.
Judging by the date on the right, it was erected in 1947.

Boys in Fitzgerald’s Park sort of enjoying the Lord Mayor’s Picnic a few weeks ago. I saw “sort of” because of their tense expressions. Must have been the crowds!

Pretty yellow flowers bloom in late April in the grounds of the Westlodge Hotel we stayed in while on holiday in Bantry. Spring was late coming to these gardens so it was nice to see a splash of colour!
