A small girl sits on (I presume) her dad’s shoulders on Patrick’s Street. In the background is the Savoy Shopping Center, and of course the building side behind Dunnes is clearly visible in the scaffolding supports to the far left.

Traffic stops at the lights by the building site of the Elysian. I passed by the other side of it, past the low rise section of the building and it towers over the street.
It’s massive!

This is the small quay at Currabinny across the water from Crosshaven in Cork Harbour.

As today was such an awful day with driving rain, sleet and ice I think a nice calm photo was in order. This was taken in April last year.

I’m travelling soon. I realised yesterday that I may not have my Sigma 10-20 lens to bring with me. Boo!

A holiday caravan near a beach on the Dingle Peninsula.

This caravan has been in the same spot for at least the last 2 years, and probably longer. I wanted to shoot it for quite a while but it wasn’t until I converted this shot to b/w that I was happy with it.

Oh, delicious spam! How I love you so! I want to spread you on sandwiches and lick the knife clean! Oh Yum!

Or not. I’ve never tasted the edible variety of spam, but like everyone else online I’ve had my fair share of spam emails, comments and blogs.

This is the real spam, made by Hormel. I spotted it in a store in San Francisco and snapped a quick shot of the aisle. Unfortunately the light was bad but, if you’ve never come across it before, it’s a novelty worth posting, right?

Current spam stats:
1. Inphotos: 8510
2. Holy Shmoly!: 21689
3. Gmail: 2176

Spam is here to stay.

I’m going to slow down this year. I’ve been trying to keep up with everyone else, moving without thinking, on auto pilot sometimes.

I blog too fast. There! I’ve said it. I tried to post here, to Holy Shmoly!, to The Funny Video Blog every day but there’s only so much one man can do.

Instead, this blog will of course be updated every day, Holy Shmoly will be updated at most 3 times a week, and I’ll try to post one funny video a week.

Then I’ll have time to play with my son, watch him discover the world and enjoy the great times.

Ryan - thank you for the recommendation and a happy new year to you too!

A strange multi-coloured bus waiting at the lights in downtown San Francisco last summer.

Yes, those are horns on the roof. Does anyone know anything about it? A search for “EFT 922″, it’s registration plate, turns up nothing useful.

Irish rugby player Ronan O’Gara was the face of Samsung and many other brands this year. Apparently Samsung announced that their sales dropped because of their association with the hapless team. ;)

“We had no idea how poorly he would play,” continued the Samsung spokesperson. “Not just Ronan, but the whole team. In hindsight the ‘I’m converted’ caption is quite embarrassing because his conversion record in the World Cup was shite. We’re quite disappointed with Ronan, not only did he let himself and the country down, but he let us, a multi-billion dollar company, down as well.”

A skip or large rubbish bin is manoeuvred into place on a building site off Paul Street, Cork.

Those tall cranes are practically a part of city life now …

The Christmas lights on Carey’s Lane shine brightly in this long exposure shot.

The exposure is so long that crowds of people walked past, some apologising, without evening showing up on the final image! The only person visible is a homeless guy sitting in a doorway. I love how the Christmas lights came out in this. f/22 does lovely things to points of light.

This was taken one evening while in town and I had a few moments to spare. Get out the camera, crouch down and put the wallet under the lens to point it up a bit. Perfectly still, without a tripod!

While I shot this I realised where this photo was taken! See the No Parking sign?
