While on my way to Iceland a few months ago I had about 10 hours to kill while in London. Thankfully John Godley collected me at the airport and gave me a quick tour of the city centre! I got loads of photos of the London Eye, here’s one of them.
Architecture
The architecture of buildings and landscapes fascinates me because of the lines and height and life that surrounds buildings and the countryside. Rolling hills of fields and hedgerows are so pleasing to the eye and a wonder of nature.
The London Eye

Filed in Abstract, Architecture, Cadiz, Canon 40D, Look up, Photography, Photos, Sigma 10-20, Sky, Spain, UrbanCadiz is a city and port in the Iberian Peninsula in Spain. The centre of the city is filled with old alleys and narrow streets. Here’s I shot straight upwards at the junction of 4 such alleys, I think it was here near the local cathedral. Many years ago I took a similar photo of [...]
Yellow and Pink

Sólfar, The Sun Voyager
Filed in Architecture, Boat, Canon 40D, Iceland, Photography, Photos, Reykjavik, Sigma 18-200, UrbanThis is a metal statue in Reykjavík of what looks like a Viking longboat but according to the Wikipedia page is in fact a “dreamboat”. It is a common misunderstanding that Sun Voyager is a Viking ship. It is quite understandable that many tourists think like this when travelling in Iceland, the land of the [...]
Derelict Reykjavik Highrises
Filed in Architecture, Iceland, Photography, Photos, Reykjavik, Sky, Urban, VehiclesWhat I’ve seen of Reykjavik so far has been really nice. Buildings are colourful, the streets are for the most part well maintained and the city centre has cobbled streets so it’s pleasant to walk around. While on our photowalk today we passed these buildings on the sea front. I thought they were just another [...]

Abandoned Interior
Filed in Architecture, Black and White, Canon 40D, Houses, Ireland, Kerry, Photography, Photos, Sigma 10-20, Slea HeadThe interior of a cottage at the picturesque Brandon Creek on Slea Head, County Kerry. Outside there’s a planning permission notice, dated August 2008 and written in Irish. I presume the owner is no longer in a hurry to develop his property. All he wanted to do was replace the roof and add an extension.
County Hall Deconstructed
Filed in Architecture, Canon 20D, Cork, Ireland, Photography, Photos, Sigma 10-20, UrbanCounty Hall in Cork, as it was in 2005. Not so long ago it was flooded but it looks vaguely impressive when seen from certain viewpoints since the facelift it received in this photo. Shame it’s built on a flood plain.
