An owl pictured inside it’s enclosure at Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago. The faint lines are the thin bars of the cage.
I love the eye!

  1. Beautiful bird, such snowy white feathers!

    Going over to Ryan’s.

  2. Good shout, Micki. Looks like a snowy owl to me!

  3. The light really brings out the detail in it’s feathers. Love this shot, what an expression!

  4. Another great bird shot! I love the detail in these images.

  5. Thanks guys, I’m finally catching up on my photoblog viewing. My list gets bigger and bigger though, and I don’t have time to comment on all the great shots I spot!

  6. This photo is of a female Snowy Owl. It has never been called a “white” owl. The female is speckled as you can see. The male is pure white and slightly smaller. She lives with a male. He was in the outdoor enclosure with her. Too bad you didn’t get his photo since it would have been nice for a comparison. Males are always smaller than females in the bird of prey group. The owl’s eyes are stationary in the sockets. That is why the owl’s head turns completely around.
