The Boats of Bantry

Posted on 05 July 2006

Boats tied up at the quay in Bantry two weeks ago. Bantry was once criss-crossed with waterways like Venice is today but those are long gone. The sea is still an important part of the culture of the town.

If you’re interested in the history of the region, here’s a page from westcork.com on the subject.

Donncha. Lovely shot. I take it you don’t like your new lens very much!

Thanks for the comments! I absolutely hate my new Sigma 10-20 lens. I use it all the time just so it feels my pain and feels guilty. It’s so wide it must really hurt!

This is very nostalgic for me. I went there on holidays as a small child in the 1970’s. This is where I saw my first live fish – a mackerel. Very nice photo dude.

The photo has three different types of boats tied in the quay. All three of them look very nice and cute. What a cute Photo!
