The beauty of Burnham Beeches

We visited Burnham Beeches last Friday afternoon, on a day when torrential rain was forecast but thankfully the weather forecast was completely wrong. This large forest close to the city of London is an amazing sight to behold with ancient trees, and at this time of year beautiful, vivid (eh Matt?) and colourful leaves that create a breathtaking canopy.

When I saw the scene you see above my jaw dropped in astonishment and I had to take a few photos of it. This is definitely a photo I’ll be printing and hanging on my wall. I hope you like it too!

Wikipedia says that:

Burnham Beeches is an area of 540 acres (220 hectares) of ancient woodland, located close to Farnham Common, Burnham and Beaconsfield, in Buckinghamshire. It is approximately 20 miles (30 km) to the west of London, England.

Almost too good. I’m expecting Meg Ryan to wander past!

This is one of the best autumn photos I have seen in a while. The colours are fantastic and the dead tree really adds to it too. I’m sure it will make a beautiful print.

    Great photo.

You know there is another Burnham in Dingle Co Kerry that is also home to some great broadleafs (hard to find in Dingle). Wonder if there is any connection (a very english name for a gaeltacht area!)

Thank you all for commenting! The awful thing about posting an image I’m so pleased with is I have to follow it up with another image and it’s inevitably going to be an ordinary one. We’re never happy are we?

Oh my! This picture makes me stare; it is both inspiring and peaceful. I so want to visit this place; what type of camera did you use? I can’t wait to visit places such as this..You could almost drown in those shades of red and orange!
