The banks of the Lee
Posted on 02 April 2009

The River Lee runs through Cork City along two channels with an island in the middle. That island is where the City Center is and provides for plenty of opportunities shooting the river
Shot during the pre-iba09 photowalk ages ago.

Nice shot, the reflection looks like water is iced.
I got one from the opposite bank of the building works and an old building that the owner obviously won’t sell.

Thanks Pa! Love that shot you took, must go try that myself!
That building in Pa’s photograph is actually owned by O’Callaghan Properties (the developer of the big development) but it is a listed Georgian building. They tried to have it demolished by running it down and making it derelict about 10 years ago. I’m amazed that they allowed them to build around it. It is a good juxtaposition though and will be an enduring symbol of the excesses of the last 10 years!
The reflection is stunning.
I had a strange dream about the River Lee once. I fell in and was attacked by a giant fillet of salmon. It was quite frightening!
It almost looks like it could be a painting. Well Shot! The only thing I might have done differently is to perhaps add a bit of space to the top of the photo so its almost a complete mirror image.
