24 February 2009 - Yellow Pipes
yellow pipes

When you’re stuck for time state the obvious. Yellow piping found on a back road beyond Crosshaven in Co Cork 9 days ago. That pink bike at the end of the frame was a nice bonus. Hadn’t noticed that when I took the photo!

Pancakes have been cooked, flipped and eaten by all and we’re heading out to see that Barcelona film that I can’t remember the name of in the Kino in Cork. Babysitter is here, Adam is tucked up in bed, time to run out the door.

13 July 2008 - Pretty Yellow Flowers
Pretty Yellow Flowers

Pretty yellow flowers bloom in late April in the grounds of the Westlodge Hotel we stayed in while on holiday in Bantry. Spring was late coming to these gardens so it was nice to see a splash of colour!

13 June 2008 - Express & Logistics

Express & Logistics

A DHL van near Paul Street, Cork provided me with a nice excuse to try out the urban acid plugin again! This has been sitting on my computer for almost 2 years but I only recently worked on it. Glad I did too. Love that red streak coming out of the shadows!

27 March 2008 - The Lough Daffodils

We walked around The Lough and wandered over to the daffodils growing by the footpath at one of the lake. That’s Sean Murphy in the background as he preps some of his equipment to take a shot.

Probably my last photo from the Lough Photowalk!

7 March 2008 - Charity Daffodils

Here are the daffodils my wife picked up when she gave a nice crisp €50 note to the Irish Cancer Society collector in Blarney this afternoon.

A few days ago I offered to give the proceeds from the sale of a photo to charity plus €50 of my own money/. Nobody splashed out on a print unfortunately.

Well done to Robert who braved the elements to collect today!

5 March 2008 - Daffodil Day

Daffodil Day is fast approaching on Friday so I thought a photo of these gorgeous flowers was appropriate.

Daffodil Day is when cancer charities all over the world raise a large portion of their funds by selling daffodils. If you see an official seller please support a good cause and give generously.

I gave away a Daffodil Day header image last year on my blog. Actually, I’m still using it since then as my blog’s banner so I’m rather pleased with it!

Buy this image before Friday and you’ll support charity
Daffodil Day is next Friday. I’ve just started selling this image of daffodils on rebubble.com. If I make any sales before or on Friday I’ll give any profit I make to The Irish Cancer Society.

Red Bubble is a business and charge a base price on every print sold. I make a few Euro from each sale but no matter how many or how few prints I sell I’ll add 50 Euro to whatever profit is there. Even if I sell no prints (which I admit is quite likely), the Irish Cancer Society collector in Blarney will get a nice crisp 50 Euro note straight out of the ATM at lunch time on Friday.

If you think this is just a ploy to make some photo sales, then put your money where your mouth is and give generously to a Daffodil Day collector on Friday. If they’re not collecting in your area, I’m sure some worthwhile charity is!

15 December 2007 - Brilliant Winter Leaves

Just over a month ago, some of the trees around here still had leaves. I took the camera with me one evening when we went for a walk around the park.

The leaves were a lovely bright and vibrant colour, but obviously this has been a little touched up in the GIMP afterwards! :)

13 August 2007 - The Yellow Rose

A yellow rose in Fitzgerald’s Park in Cork. I made this photo a few weeks back and it had just rained, leaving nice little droplets of water on the delicate petals of the flower.

28 January 2007 - Doneraile Park Stream

Water flows through Doneraile Park on a cold November afternoon. Despite the late season, leaves still cling to the branches of nearby trees although they’ve turned golden-orange and make a beautiful covering on the ground.

I was quite surprised that the Wikipedia page for Doneraile didn’t mention Elizabeth Aldworth, one of only three female members of a regular Masonic Lodge. Doneraile has quite a claim to fame!

I’ll have to get a good shot of Doneraile Court next time I’m down there. The sun was setting behind the building on my last visit so an early trip is necessary. The house is also surrounded by fencing making access impossible but hopefully those repair works will be completed soon!

16 December 2006 - Late Autumn Leaves

The browns and yellows of Autumn grow darker as the rain soaks in and leaves disintegrate on the ground. A bench stands tall in the distance at Doneraile Park, Co. Cork.
