Irish rugby was rubbish in 2007

Irish rugby player Ronan O’Gara was the face of Samsung and many other brands this year. Apparently Samsung announced that their sales dropped because of their association with the hapless team. ๐Ÿ˜‰

โ€œWe had no idea how poorly he would play,โ€ continued the Samsung spokesperson. โ€œNot just Ronan, but the whole team. In hindsight the โ€˜Iโ€™m convertedโ€™ caption is quite embarrassing because his conversion record in the World Cup was shite. Weโ€™re quite disappointed with Ronan, not only did he let himself and the country down, but he let us, a multi-billion dollar company, down as well.โ€

Christmas Baubles

Christmas Baubles hang in Porter’s newsagent, Cork. Christmas decoration is everywhere but reflective surfaces present an opportunity to take a self portrait. Yes, that’s me reflected! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you had a great Christmas Day. We went travelling and I must say it was the best Christmas Day in a long time. I think I must invest in a WII next year…

A busy moment

Freeze what you’re doing. Right now. The world has stopped.

A busy moment on Patrick’s Street, Cork captured forever.

I liked this image because of the solitary motorcycle rider, but then I noticed all the activity: the people walking, cars *all over* the frame, the parked security truck with the driver leaning over to get his papers.
All frozen.

Starlight Christmas Lights

The Christmas lights on Carey’s Lane shine brightly in this long exposure shot.

The exposure is so long that crowds of people walked past, some apologising, without evening showing up on the final image! The only person visible is a homeless guy sitting in a doorway. I love how the Christmas lights came out in this. f/22 does lovely things to points of light.

This was taken one evening while in town and I had a few moments to spare. Get out the camera, crouch down and put the wallet under the lens to point it up a bit. Perfectly still, without a tripod!

While I shot this I realised where this photo was taken! See the No Parking sign?

Turquoise Acid

A water main on the street in San Francisco while Automattic waited to go into a restaurant.

I think that’s Matt in the background, but it might have been Alex too.

Lost in thought

Two teenage girls on Patrick’s Street, Cork. One is lost in thought, while the other chats away.

Do you recognise the Special K poster in the background?

The girl in Abrakebabra

A young girl waits for her food in Abrakebabra, Patrick St. in Cork. Her hard expression is softened by the little hearts on her jumper, but somehow I think she can stand up for herself ..

Good news! My car passed the NCT this morning! ๐Ÿ™‚

How to buy jewellery gifts for Christmas

When shopping for jewellery gifts it’s important to note the following steps to make your life easier.

  • Make sure you start early. It’s already too late. Better luck next year. This lady started her shopping on November 10th!
  • Examine the shop window in meticulous detail. Bring a magnifying glass.
  • Drag an unfortunate shop assistant out into the cold, wind and wet to show him which item you want to buy, before changing your mind and looking at something else.

Don’t worry about price. The piece you like will always be the most expensive.

Pictured is the premises of Hilser Bros Jewllers on the Grand Parade, Cork.

Special K Diet

“Shape up your day” with the Special K diet according to Kelloggs.

Your shape. Your way. With Kelloggs Special K of course. That stuff is full of salt isn’t it? Having said that, I do love a bowl of Frosties. Never lasts long in the house. Good thing I haven’t bought a packet in years!

‘Course, I could just be talking about Ketamine too. ๐Ÿ™‚
