We walked with the Community Preschool group and I am utterly amazed at the stamina of young kids! Little 3 and 4 year olds walked around Blarney and still had energy left to play with bubbles at the end!

What a wonderful day. I’m exhausted. Here’s a few photos I took.

The Lord Mayor’s car, a top of the range Ford. Despite the fact that Ford have a much reduced presence in Cork these days the Lord Mayor continues to make use of a Ford automobile. Always the first car registered in the year too.

Enthusiastic crowds gather on South Mall in Cork for the St Patrick’s Day parade this year. As you can imagine it was pretty awful trying to see the parade with such a large crowd.

The hands at the bottom of the frame are those of a tall man who stood right in front of me. Lucky for me I stretched higher to get my photo!

A spectator watching the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Cork yesterday climbed up on the National Monument on the Grand Parade to get a better view. Lucky him.

As I said yesterday, it was easier and more enjoyable photographing the parade spectators than the parade!

B’fheider i gceann cupla la. Nilim cinnte an mbeidh me ag dul ar ais an bhlain seo chugainn. :(

Big smile for the Parade!

I think it’s safe to say this was the biggest smile of St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2008 for me. Nobody in the crowd was smiling anyway. They were all too squashed in or straining to see over the heads of those in front.

Some people go to all lengths to watch the St. Patrick’s Day Parade as these kids show.

Congrats to my friends John and Ann on the birth of their son Caelin yesterday. You’re lives are going to change *so much* but you’re going to have a great time with the little guy!
