9 October 2009 - Wet, shiny stones
The outgoing tide on Fountainstown Beach leaves behind wet stones and seaweed as it retreats.
This is a long exposure shot of one second with my camera resting on one of those rocks!
By the time you read this I’ll be on a plane, in the air most likely, or waiting for a connection in Heathrow more likely. More details to follow.
19 September 2009 - Fountainstown Sunset
The beach at Fountainstown in County Cork faces east but in the twilight there’s still a glow in that direction. This was shot with my 50mm lens, really close to the surface of the water there while gentle waves lapped the shoreline.
Unfortunately as a result I had set the focus point so the water would be in focus and today forgot to change it, thus ruining a nice photograph at a family occasion. Then the focus somehow got kicked into manual on my 18-200 lens and ruined another few photos. Oh well.
Love this shot though!
18 September 2009 - Kite Surfer
A lone kite surfer flies through the water at Garrettstown Beach in County Cork a few weeks ago.
Last weekend with the good weather the beach was packed, but we were there when it was cold, rain drizzled, and a cold wind whipped up the fine sand everywhere. Place was deserted.
I like this photo. Made the trip worthwhile!

Waves crash and water rushes in on the rocks at Couminole Beach in County Kerry.
Shot almost 2 years ago on Slea Head!
28 July 2009 - Rocky Bay
Rocky Bay in County Cork is a beautiful little sandy beach, despite the name.
27 July 2009 - Crosshaven on the water
The town of Crosshaven in County Cork as seen from across the water.
Lots of photos uploaded to the photowalk homepage. I have to judge a winner in the next few days..
22 July 2009 - Hurling on the beach
A man leans on a hurley while his son runs after the sliotar (off picture) down the beach at Garrettstown last March.
15 July 2009 - Rock Landscape
Just beyond the pier at Kilkee Beach lie these rocks and pools of sea water.
25 June 2009 - The lonely Arann Islands
The Arann Islands, as seen from O’Briens Tower on the Cliffs of Moher.
17 June 2009 - Emergency at Kilkee Beach
The lifeboat at Kilkee is stored at the top of this ramp going down to the water at the beach. At low tide it’s quite a distance and the wide angle makes a great job of getting it all in!
Those two dots on the beach are my family!
