4 January 2008 - Slow down in 2008I’m going to slow down this year. I’ve been trying to keep up with everyone else, moving without thinking, on auto pilot sometimes.
I blog too fast. There! I’ve said it. I tried to post here, to Holy Shmoly!, to The Funny Video Blog every day but there’s only so much one man can do.
Instead, this blog will of course be updated every day, Holy Shmoly will be updated at most 3 times a week, and I’ll try to post one funny video a week.
Then I’ll have time to play with my son, watch him discover the world and enjoy the great times.
Ryan – thank you for the recommendation and a happy new year to you too!
3 January 2008 - The road to Blarney CastleThis is the private road to the estate on which Blarney Castle sits.
As I was walking about one late winter afternoon I spotted the lovely light shining through the trees and just had to take a snap!
6 December 2007 - Irish Adult StoreThere are I think 3 adult stores in Cork. Two are down by Parnell Place, or at least they were, and the other is pictured above!
One of the adult stores in Cork is down a small, narrow little road called Grafton Street. The alley is so small that it doesn’t even appear on Google Maps. It does show on Yahoo Maps but you’d be forgiven if you never noticed it before.
This was shot from the Grand Parade multi-storey car park which backs onto the road. I was really happy to get the flashing neon sign while it was illuminated!
The Sony repair centre is just across the alley from the store, the only reason I’ve ever gone down there, when I tried to get my Sony 717 repaired.
No, before you ask, I’ve never darkened the doorway of any of those shops!
14 October 2007 - Laneway fenceAn old fence follows the road off into the distance at Wine Strand in the Dingle Peninsular, Co. Kerry.
Lines, lines everywhere, I love lines!
11 June 2007 - Orange stripes and white cloudsThe orange stripes of the road lead off into the Conor Pass, north of Dingle in Co. Kerry. This was taken in September last year and they did a great job of improving the road.
The cloud you see is fog that literally rolled in off the hills. One moment there was a beautiful view down into the Pass and the next we were surrounded by a white wall of wet.
17 September 2006 - The road to CeiliPeople stroll along the closed off St. Patrick’s Street to the Ceili Mor.
Technique: I had to rotate the photo and crop it a small bit to get a straighter horizon, then some dodge/burn to bring out the contrast, and fired off the GIMP lomo plugin that creates two layers – one to highlight the centre, and the other to provide the vignette. I added a layer mask to the vignette and by using a gradient knocked off the top half of the vignette.
