Spencer Tunick photos went online today

Spencer Tunick’s Irish photos might be online but you wouldn’t know it as the site is down, probably from the rush of people trying to see their neighbours or friends in the nip. Oops. Should have done a deal with Pix.ie!

I did manage to grab one image off there this afternoon and Vic has a few shots which I’ve added to a small gallery. Photos from Cork (he shot in Blarney and in the City) will eventually be seen here. Give it a few days until the site quietens down again.

Where you’ll find Fianna Fail

Where you'll find Fianna Fail

In years to come they’ll talk about the Fianna Fail posters of 2009. This was the year when many party members chose to hide the name “Fianna Fail” on their posters. You’d have to go right up to them to see that damned name.
One suspects they’re probably embarrassed by their association with Fianna Fail, a name synonymous with dig outs for the pals, corruption and hospitality tents for builders. Not the general public’s favourite political force right now.

The Local and European Elections are in a week’s time. I don’t know who I’ll be voting for but it won’t be Brian Crowley. He’ll be returned anyway as he’s very popular and it’s his bad luck his poster was the only Fianna Fail one I spotted on my walk.

San Francisco will be the gathering place for a large number of WordPress fans at the end of the month as they go to the 2009 San Francisco WordCamp. I won’t be there unfortunately but places are already in short supply, if not all sold out at this stage. It’s going to be a blast!

Here’s a shot I took in 2007 from outside our hotel near Union Square. Love the reflection of the building in the bonnet of the car and glad I got those tourists too!

Honeymoon Cabaret

honeymoon cabaret

Yesterday we had lunch in Ammicus, in Douglas while outside the stalls of a market sold all sorts of foods and produce. The road was closed off to traffic for street performers to entertain the crowds. Unfortunately rain probably dampened the spirits of all involved. The showers were really bad!

Here’s Marc and Svetlana Buttersworth, the Honeymoon Cabaret, performing their act to a delighted crowd (with brollies). They were so entertaining, kept the crowd going, and bravely carried on through all but the worst of the showers! Go see them if you hear they’re performing near you!

Kilkee Beach

Kilkee Beach in County Clare is a beautiful stretch of sand going on forever and ever. Well, seems like it, it’s a massively long beach and on the day we accidentally discovered it the sun was beating down on us. Hooray!

I have no idea what RMA stands for. That little rock was sitting next to the shell where I found it.

Pedestrian Crossing

Pedestrian Crossing

The pedestrian crossing outside Eason (I always say “Eason’s”, but it really is “Eason”. Just like Porter’s is “Porter”. These newsagents are a picky bunch!) where young and old traverse the street in relative safety.

Yes, it’s the current header image on this blog. If you’re reading this in the future when I may have changed themes, a cropped version of this was the header when I posted this image!

The Singer Sewing Centre in Cork has been around for many years and recently the building went up for sale but the shop still continues to trade.
