A boat sits alone on the hard ground while it’s brethren bob up and down in the tide around Fountainstown in Co Cork.

This presented me with a bit of a dilemma. I originally cropped the sky out because it was washed out but after careful work with the RAW image I restored detail to that area of the photo. Now I’m torn between this and the cropped version but I think this one wins out. The clouds have a sense of motion that contrasts with the rest of the image in a way I find very pleasing.

I’m thinking about this too much.

Late posting of today’s photo because of the camera club tonight. It was model shoot night and I got a few shots but I’m not very comfortable directing so I’m undecided as to how well the photos came out.

Rough grass clings to the headland near Mizen Head in West Cork as waves crash on the cliffs far below. On the day I took this it was a lovely warm, sunny day, but I Love the effect black and white has on this scene. It sends a chill through me looking at it, especially the original full size image.

Looking forward to the Doneraile photowalk tomorrow. I hope this nice sunny weather holds. The sun isn’t overbearing, and the sky is interesting with wispy clouds. As I said before, if you’re not sure you’ll make it for 3pm, get in touch and I’ll email you my phone number. My wife and I are bringing a small picnic, sandwiches and a flask for tea so bring some food if you think you’ll be peckish!

Looking down a closed off corridor or street in Alcatraz Prison, San Francisco. I watched a few minutes of “Escape From Alcatraz” last night and recognised a few locations – the canteen of course, and the ventilation shafts behind the cells are visible to anyone who looks.

I wonder how many feet plodded down this street and who was incarcerated there.

Thanks for the comments on my posts too, it’s encouragement to keep posting so if you feel like adding your two cents don’t be shy!
