Kilbrittain 6 miles A sign points to Kilbrittain in Co. Cork near the beach at Garrettstown. Has it been 2 years already Ryan? My Flickr account expires in February 2008 so I have a bit more time on my hands. It’s been well worth it however!
45 on the Golden Gate The posted speed limit for the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco is 45mph but good luck to anyone who managed to reach that speed! Traffic crawled the day we were there and I suspect that’s the norm. Shot from the car as we drove along. Thanks Andy for driving that […]
Clouds over the Lough Clouds gather and block out the sun over the Lough in Cork last year. The display was beautiful as light wispy clouds and dark brooding rain clouds skirted across the sky. The sun made one final effort to shine, but the clouds won out and it started to rain moments later.
Family at the beach Dad carries the forgotten kite, daughter walks through the water and mom basks in the sun of a glorious September afternoon at Inch Strand, Co. Kerry. Tonight is theme night at the camera club. My theme is “The sea” so I went through my archives yesterday choosing suitable photos. This will […]
Bay Bridge Reflections Light from the Bay Bridge in San Francsico shimmers in the waters of the harbour. To the left one of the fire fighting boats of the SF Fire Department can be seen. Posting this landmark of San Francisco today as most of the rest of Automattic make their way to Mexico. Here’s […]
The Moonlit Shipyards The shipyards in Rushbrooke, just outside Cobh are still active although much quieter now than during their heyday. The cranes make for great photography against the moonlit sky. This was shot from across the River Lee in Passage last November. FRLinux asked about settings so here they are, including post-processing: Flickr’s exif […]
The River, The Brewery and the Cathedral The River Lee rushes by the Beamish and Crawford Brewery on one side, and O’Sullivan Electrical on the other with St. Finbarre’s Cathedral in the background. I have discovered there’s a dead pixel on my camera’s sensor. Fortunately it doesn’t seem to show itself much but when I […]
An Fear Marbh An Fear Marbh, an island off the coast of Co. Kerry, Ireland, with the setting sun lighting up the cloud over the Atlantic. “An Fear Marbh” translates as “the dead man” and is so named because of the obvious shape of the island – that of a man lying on his back. […]
Port of Cork The Port of Cork seen from the hills on the north side of the city. Looks carefully and you can see several landmarks: The Elysian building site R&H Hall Cork Bonded Warehouses Holy Trinity Church And many more sights! I entered Little Communion Girl into the Photo Friday “Fresh” competition this morning. […]
A sunlit river The sun blazes over Cork City and the River Lee on a fresh October afternoon. This was taken on Patrick’s Bridge looking out over the River Lee on a wonderfully bright October day. This bridge was opened on December 12th 1861 by the then Mayor, Sir John Arnott. I read a story […]
Currykippane Cemetery It’s Halloween, that time of year that the souls of the dead rise up, goblins and monsters are abroad and witches fly about. I’ve already had my barm brack and even got the ring, but tonight is when kids go “trick or treating” looking for treats and avoiding tricks! I made this image […]
The Golden Bay Bridge in San Francisco The Bay Bridge in San Francisco all lit up at night. The lighting on the bridge casts a golden glow over the water that is beautiful to watch and photograph. More on Wikipedia. Niall Kennedy walked with myself and Bryan Veloso around the Ferry Building on the night […]
