Yellow and Fenced In

A flower or weed? A weed is only a flower in the wrong place, or so I’ve heard. This was taken at Seaside in Florida during the Automattic meetup there in 2010. Beautiful beach there, horrible humidity in September! This will probably be my last post of the year here so happy new year and [...]

A pot of gold in the fields of Kerry

Filed in Canon 40D, Ireland, Kerry, Landscape, Nature, Photography, Photos, Rain, Sigma 10-20Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

This is my desktop background. I love it! After Inch Strand on the way to Dingle in County Kerry the road gets very narrow and winds through the hills before coming down to sea level again. The picture above should be a familiar scene to anyone who has travelled that road! The day we drove [...]

Fire Hydrant #3

A lone hydrant sits on the edge of an empty field in Quebec, Canada. Last of the hydrant photos. Are you glad?

Caution! Unprotected High Cliffs

Filed in Bantry, Canon 10-22, Canon 40D, Cork, Ireland, Landscape, Nature, Photography, Photos, SignsTags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

A sign at the base of the short hill below the white pillar near Bantry in Co Cork warns of high cliffs. Unfortunately Adam was asleep in the car and I couldn’t venture any further so I’ll have to return some day to take photos of that pillar.

A Cabin in the Rockies

Filed in Automattic, Breckenridge, Canon 40D, Colorado, Houses, Landscape, Nature, Photography, Photos, Sigma 18-200, Sky, Trees, United StatesTags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

A small wooden cabin or hut sits in a car park near the houses Automattic stayed in at Breckenridge in Colorado. The original shot can be seen in my Flickr stream or in the Automattic group there. This version has been extensively dodged and burned to bring out the contrast between light and dark. Late [...]

Ye olde church

Filed in Architecture, Black and White, Canon 10-22, Canon 20D, Cork, Ireland, Photography, Photos, UrbanTags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

This church in Castletownbere in West Cork looks like it may have seen better days but by the looks of the mowed grass it’s probably still in use. The Canon 40D was delivered today. I could have posted a sample picture but I didn’t have time to shoot anything interesting besides a few snaps of [...]

Field of flowers

Filed in Allihies, Canon 10-22, Canon 20D, Cork, Flowers, Ireland, Nature, Photography, Photos, SkyTags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Floods, hailstones, cold. Another typical Irish summer but thankfully it’s nice ad bright here in Blarney. Here’s a shot I took down at Allihies in West Cork back in April. It’d be perfect if the flowers were more in focus but I still love it.

The rolling hills of the Irish countryside

Filed in Animals, Canon 10-22, Canon 20D, Co. Cork, Cork, Ireland, Landscape, Nature, Photography, Photos, Sky, TreesTags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

People come from far and wide to see the beautiful Irish countryside and it’s no wonder. There’s such a wide range of different scenery that you could spend many a day discovering new beauty spots. This was shot near Dunmanway in West Cork. If you look very carefully you can see the wind power generators [...]

Boys in the park

Filed in Candid, Canon 20D, Cork, Fitzgerald Park, Ireland, People, Photography, Photos, Sigma 18-200, Street, UrbanTags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Boys in Fitzgerald’s Park sort of enjoying the Lord Mayor’s Picnic a few weeks ago. I saw “sort of” because of their tense expressions. Must have been the crowds!
