‘Se seo Lá Fhéile Phadraig inniu. Chuaigh me isteach sa chathair (gan an chlann) chun féachaint ar an paráid ach ni fhacha me moran de. Bhi an meid sin daoine ann. Ni raibh paisti in ann aon rud a fheisceant in aon chor. Bhi sé nios éasca agus bhain me nios mo taineamh as pictuiri a thogaint den lucht féachanta!

D’fhagas 50 noiméad tar éis do tosnu. Bhi my lamha tuirseach o beith ag chuir my camara os mo ceann agus chonaic me nios mo den paraid sa bhaile anseo ar an riomhaire… Ta suas le 300 griangraf togtha agam inniu ach nil an t-am agam obair ortha anocht. B’fheider i gceann cupla la. Nilim cinnte an mbeidh me ag dul ar ais an bhlain seo chugainn. :(

An Chead Bhailiu Eile

A very old looking post box on South Main Street, Cork stands next to the brewery there.

“An Chead Bhailiu Eile” and “Next Collection” are stamped just above the letter box, and both phrases are the same in Irish and English.

Photos from Snapfish.ie were delivered today. Quality is quite good, but they messed up the crop on one photo (you can’t crop it yourself unfortunately) and another photo was missing about an inch on one side somehow.

The name of the vessel, “Cu Na Mara”, literally means "Hound of the Seas"!

Bigeoino says I made it to the front of “Cork Places”. Does anyone know what that is? Is it a magazine? I’m going to ask in Easons later today.

Pog Mo Thoin san Daingean

“Kiss my ass!” That’s what “póg mo thóin” means. This is from a shop display in Dingle, Co. Kerry. The town, also known by it’s Irish name, An Daingean, is in an Irish speaking part of the country collectively known as An Gaeltacht.

If you’re interested, you’d probably pronounce “póg mo thóin” in English as “pogue mahone”.

Interesting trivia – The Pogues got their name from this short phrase.
