Laughter in the English Market

Laughter in the English Market

It’s not all doom and gloom for shopkeepers. These ladies were obviously having a great ol’ chat in this shop in the English Market last month.

Another shot from the WW photowalk on July 18th. I seem to be getting a couple of good ones out of that day after all!

Market Avenue

Market Avenue in the centre of Cork City is a tiny little street behind An Brog pub. You know, just outside the fish section of the English Market.

A corner shop in the English Market has a simple but effective way of shutting up shop for the day. Put a broom stick across the entrance!

The English Market is completely roofed over and locked tight at night so I guess traders feel reasonably safe with minimal security precautions. That’s what’s wonderful about the market. It’s in the centre of Cork City yet it feels like an entirely different place, like a village market with stalls.

Definitely worth a visit if you’re a tourist in Cork.

The English Market Olive Stall

the olive stall

The olive stall in the English Market, Cork is a well known part of this indoor market. There is always a queue of people waiting to bu some of their delicious produce.

If you like the olives you get in jars, try some fresh ones. You’ll be blown away by the flavour!
