Yesterday we had lunch in Ammicus, in Douglas while outside the stalls of a market sold all sorts of foods and produce. The road was closed off to traffic for street performers to entertain the crowds. Unfortunately rain probably dampened the spirits of all involved. The showers were really bad!

Here’s Marc and Svetlana Buttersworth, the Honeymoon Cabaret, performing their act to a delighted crowd (with brollies). They were so entertaining, kept the crowd going, and bravely carried on through all but the worst of the showers! Go see them if you hear they’re performing near you!

Trolleys outside <strike>Quinnsworth</strike> Tesco in Douglas last weekend. There’s such manic building going on in Douglas right now it’s a nightmare for any driver trying to get around the place. Hopefully it won’t last too much longer but they seemed to be digging up the carpark there for ages. Now it’s on to the road with bored signallers waving traffic on or stopping it as their mood dictates.

Irish rugby player Ronan O’Gara was the face of Samsung and many other brands this year. Apparently Samsung announced that their sales dropped because of their association with the hapless team.

“We had no idea how poorly he would play,” continued the Samsung spokesperson. “Not just Ronan, but the whole team. In hindsight the ‘I’m converted’ caption is quite embarrassing because his conversion record in the World Cup was shite. We’re quite disappointed with Ronan, not only did he let himself and the country down, but he let us, a multi-billion dollar company, down as well.”
