29 September 2009 - Hedges and Fields
The view from a friend’s new bungalow near Kinsale in County Cork.
28 November 2008 - On the Lookout
A lighthouse stands guard near Baltimore in Co Cork.
27 November 2008 - Irish Highway
Some of the highways in Ireland aren’t quite up to international standards.
28 September 2008 - Angela’s Shop in Fountainstown
Angela’s Shop and Coffee Dock in Fountainstown Co Cork. This shop has been at the beach in Fountainstown for the last 20 years (according to the owner) but I had never ventured inside until today. We were served lovely cups of tea which we enjoyed outside in the blazing sun.
I had hoped to shoot the women’s mini marathon earlier in the day but we had a busy morning with the baby and weren’t ready to leave the house until 1pm. Sorry Ciara, would love to have seen you and the girls in wedding dresses!
15 August 2008 - Allihies Countryside
The road to the beach at Allihies in West Cork branches in two a few miles from there. This was taken on the scenic route where the road comes out between two hills and you see this beautiful expanse of hills and grassland spread out before you. It’s quite a sight.
My poor photo does little to capture the real splendour of the area!
21 June 2008 - Rushing through countryside
I shot this through the window of our car while driving back to the ranch after Automattic’s trip to Biosphere 2 in Arizona a few months ago. I love how the foreground blurs but the background and the sky remain motionless and static. Love the movement.
12 June 2008 - Discarded fishing tackle
Fishing tackle, nets, and even a gas cylinder rest against a wall near Allihies Beach in West Cork.
I saw all this stuff just sitting there, looking all out of place in a field.

3 March 2008 - The rolling hills of BantryThis is one of my favourite shots from the weekend in Bantry.
Basically I drove up the back roads out of Bantry town, then came to another town and picked the smallest road out of that place before going up a tiny little boithirin with barely room for my car. Wonderful.
7 February 2008 - Lonesome DonkeyA donkey, alone in his field. There’s a horse in the background but he’s being fed. The donkey doesn’t get anything. Poor thing.
Spotted on the road around Slea Head at the end of the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry.
That’s the last of the donkey pictures. For now.
31 January 2008 - The Fields of County CorkOn the way into Cork Airport I snapped this shot of the beautiful green fields of Co. Cork.
After the desert landscape of Arizona it was a relief to see familiar countryside again.
