4 September 2009 - Barry’s Balloons
Barry's Balloons

Last Sunday a “fun day” was held in the square in Blarney. I had completely forgotten about it until we got down there and there was a huge crowd there with food stalls, a bouncy castle and this inflatable slide and various races for all the kids. Shame about the weather though.

Barry’s Balloons obviously had a hand in supplying some of the entertainment and looked like a lot of fun!

28 February 2009 - Jacob’s Bar
jacob's bar

Jacob’s Bar in Baltimore, Co Cork. We never drank there but it looked busy and inviting. Evening was too cold to stay outside though.

20 November 2008 - Girl in the Hoop

Girl in the Hoop

A running girl is framed by a hoop thrown into the air alongside her in Bishop Lucey Park during the “Peace in the Park” event 2 months ago.

25 July 2008 - A child’s bloody nightmare
A child's bloody nightmare

A page from a child’s “colour in the picture” book provides a stark subject for this photo. Is that red blood on the wheels of that car?

Spotted on the ground somewhere in Cork City.

7 April 2008 - Little girl goes shopping

A young girl on Patrick’s Street pushes her buggy with her mothercare bag. See the face she’s making? She means business!

21 March 2008 - La le Phadraig ar Sraid Phadraig

Children look out of an upstairs window in Merchants Quay shopping centre. When I took this shot I didn’t even see them!
I was concentrating on the kids in the foreground with their flags. I think they frame the street sign rather nicely and ties in with the name of the day too.

Check out some great photos of Inchigeela from the 1960’s on textlad’s set. Thanks Katie, they’re wonderful!

This reminds me of someone at Mallow Camera Club who showed a number of slides he had bought or got off a priest who had served on a mission in South America. The images were from decades ago and the priest was dead and buried by now. Pictures were still as good as ever, but they’re languishing in a slide box now. I’d love to see them uploaded to Flickr and made public.

19 March 2008 - St. Patrick’s Day Tricolour Girl

A young girl leans on a traffic light where she has a bird’s eye view of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Cork.

6 November 2007 - School children

While walking back to the car after the Cobh Rambler’s game a few weeks ago I made this picture of a sign on the road.

I find it strange that out of the 600-odd images I took that day, this is the first image I’ve uploaded..

29 August 2007 - Children on the merry-go-round

Children smile and laugh as the fairground ride goes around and around! Linda and myself spent a good few minutes shooting this ride.

I combined a long exposure and flash to capture the action and hoped to get a glimpse of a child’s smile. I think I was lucky to get this one!

19 August 2007 - Is it a bird, is it a plane, no! It’s the sky!

I have no idea what they were looking at because there wasn’t anything flying overhead. Better than waiting for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade to start I suppose!

Taken on Paddy’s Day this year on Patrick’s Street, or Panna as it’s locally known.
