A child opens a rainbow coloured umbrella outside Cork City Library last Saturday. Rain threatened most of the day so it was a good idea to have an umbrella with you, just in case. Phil is blogging the photos he took, and posted about his trip to Cork too.

He’s well wrapped up against the cold. I have no idea who he is, so hopefully his name is Thomas, and that’s not some famous brand I’m not aware of.
A child playing in the sand
Filed in Beach, Candid, Canon 20D, Canon 75-300, Cork, Garrettstown, Ireland, People, PhotosA child playing in the sand This little girl was playing in the sand on the beach as we walked past. Plenty of toys about, but I don’t think she had built a sand castle yet. It’s lovely to see children playing in the sand. It’s an age of innocence and (sometimes) simple joy that [...]
Boy all alone on the street
Filed in Black and White, Candid, Canon 20D, Cork, Ireland, People, Photos, Sigma 10-20, St Patrick's Street, Street, UrbanBoy all alone It’s strange how you can be stuck in your own little world and not be aware of anything around you. All around this boy were couples, either hand in hand, walking together or even framing him in the middle of the image, but I’m struck by his solitary movement through the street. [...]

This was taken just after the St. Patrick’s Day Parade this year and the place was black with people, especially outside the The Larry Tompkins pub so no wonder she was [...]

The eyes in the bus
Filed in Abstract, Canon 20D, Cork, Ireland, Lavitt's Quay, People, Photos, Sigma 10-20, Street, UrbanThe eyes in the bus A child looking out the back window of a bus. Weird colours and look due to some experimenting with new plugins. Way overblown I know but I gotta have some fun sometimes!
King of my world
Filed in Black and White, Candid, Canon 20D, Cork, Ireland, Look up, People, Photos, Sigma 10-20, St Patrick's Street, Street, UrbanKing of my world A child is carried atop his parent’s shoulders on St. Patrick’s Street, Cork a few weeks ago. I really like this shot, for what reason, I’m not sure. Maybe it’s the brightness and flowery design of the clothing worn by parent and child compared to the passers by. I’m sure both [...]
Happy child in the water
Filed in Beach, Black and White, Candid, Inch Strand, Ireland, Kerry, People, Photos, Sea, Sigma 18-200, WaterHappy child in the water A very happy boy runs through the incoming tide at Inch Strand, Co. Kerry. The tide came in suddenly forcing all the adults back but it brought a big smile to this youngster’s face! Originally shot in colour with the sun behind the boy, I had to brighten the image [...]
