The Stanley Super 800 crowd

Thursday, November 15th, 2007 by Donncha

The crowd went mad cheering and shouting when filming of Stanley Super 800’s finally stopped.

You wouldn’t believe how many takes a takes but they were as vibrant and cheerful at the end as at the start! Amazing!

Image processed through the “ Acid” plugin that appeared on the GIMP Users mailing list last week. Nice effect!

Caroline Street ESB Station

Monday, September 3rd, 2007 by Donncha

This used to be an electricity switching station for the trams that traveled around city and suburbs many years ago.

This building was the location for Stanley Super 800’s Gatecrashing many month’s ago. I still have some super shots of the interior to post. I’ll eventually get around to it.. Some time!

The German Deep Purple

Saturday, August 4th, 2007 by Donncha

This group of lads wandered into the old switching station on Caroline during the filming of Stanley Super 800’s video so I took their photo.

Apparently they are a Deep Purple cover band but it was hard to figure out what their name was because they hardly spoke a word of English and my is non-existant! They were playing in the Old Oak that night so chances are they’ll be back!

The guy in the back is in the Stanley Super 800 video. Look out for the bouncers, he’s one of them. I can’t remember his name, but I had a great chat with him during the filming.

Stanley Super 800 Gatecrashing

Monday, March 26th, 2007 by Donncha

Where does the weekend go? Last weekend was "getting the baby stuff together" weekend, but it was also buy another UPS time too as Blarney was hit by another couple of power cuts. It was also Ken’s stag and I was simply too tired to go out on Saturday night so I missed all the fun in the Indian Palace and the pub afterwards. Sorry about that!
Sunday morning was more of the same - work some for the blog, build a chest of drawers. Who knew preparing for a baby would be so much work?

Anyway, come 4pm Sunday afternoon I was in the old power station on Caroline to watch band Stanley Super 800 record their new "". Over the next few days I’ll post a few from the 2 hour session.

The was filmed in front of an audience and shouting and having a great time. Although they look relaxed in this shot don’t be fooled. They’re a bunch of mad folk who gave it their all and had a great time to boot!

Sorry for the poor quality of the photo. The room was full of artificial smoke and the autofocus was fooled by it. Liberal use of unsharp mask helped and I am so glad I brought my wide angle lens!

Truely they were the stars of the show!
