In the Knows

An Alpaca stared intently at me while he munched on some straw in Blarney on Saturday.

The lone donkey

The single solitary donkey huddled among the Alpacas yesterday in Blarney.

12 December 2009 - Alpacas know best
Alpacas know best

Several Alpacas were in Blarney earlier as part of a Bothar promotion to encourage people to support them. The animals, including one donkey, were a big hit with the kids. I only had my 50mm lens with me so no wide angle shots, but I did get a couple of nice ones.

30 October 2009 - Bubbling Water
Bubbling Water

Water flows down to the beach at Fountainstown, bubbling as it goes over rocks and seaweed.

PS. I’ve reduced the cost of all prints by about $50 to $80 for the largest size framed prints. Most of the cost goes towards manufacturing and my markup is only 20% on all prints. Check ‘em out in my gallery and of course if a photo on the site takes your interest contact me and let me know!

9 October 2009 - Wet, shiny stones
Wet, shiny stones

The outgoing tide on Fountainstown Beach leaves behind wet stones and seaweed as it retreats.

This is a long exposure shot of one second with my camera resting on one of those rocks!

By the time you read this I’ll be on a plane, in the air most likely, or waiting for a connection in Heathrow more likely. More details to follow.

24 September 2009 - Anything but Guinness
Anything but Guinness

So, today is Arthur’s Day, a celebration of 250 years of Guinness. Well, sorry, but I don’t like Guinness and this is obviously a cheap marketing ploy by a large multi-national to drive sales of a declining beverage. Seems to have worked.

Me? I may just open that bottle of Leffe. Yum.

19 September 2009 - Fountainstown Sunset
Fountainstown Sunset

The beach at Fountainstown in County Cork faces east but in the twilight there’s still a glow in that direction. This was shot with my 50mm lens, really close to the surface of the water there while gentle waves lapped the shoreline.

Unfortunately as a result I had set the focus point so the water would be in focus and today forgot to change it, thus ruining a nice photograph at a family occasion. Then the focus somehow got kicked into manual on my 18-200 lens and ruined another few photos. Oh well.

Love this shot though!

7 September 2009 - Springer at Fountainstown
Springer at Fountainstown

I always have a soft spot for Springer Spaniels. The beaches at Myrtleville and Fountainstown seem to be a favourite haunt of them if our experiences are anything to go by. Here’s a Springer that played with my son Adam at the beach in Fountainstown. They had a great time together!

Almost recovered. Stomach is still grumbling but the huge weakness I felt yesterday and this morning is gone. Relieved.

27 August 2009 - Relax in the Park
Relax in the Park

A man relaxes in Bishop Lucey Park while all around him people enjoy the festival that day. Taken during the photowalk last month.

Amazing what cropping does to an image. The original was so busy and I struggled to find the image I wanted out of it but I like this.
