Heads up at the Lough

Heads up at the Lough This was shot from a precarious position. I jumped up on one of the concrete posts dotted around the pond and very carefully snapped a couple of shots. I just about managed to balance there for a few minutes! See the two black swans everyone else was shooting? From left […]

A big head is natural

A big head is natural I was setting up a shot by placing that wheel cap leaning on the bus shelter when these two teenagers ran across the road carrying a football goal between them! Anyway, there’s the Murphy’s stout advert I wanted to shoot. I wonder if they advertise anywhere else in the country?

The pigeon flies away!

The pigeon flies away! Besides the beautiful swans, there’s the usual gathering of pigeons waddling along on the path picking up bread crumbs. Too tempting. I had to chase after them and encourage them to fly a little. Some of them need the exercise!

Feed the swans at the Lough

Feed the swans at the Lough Girls feed the swans at the Lough on Sunday afternoon. Urban acid Will posted his first photo from the day on his blog. He did arrive late, but he made up for lost time!

The Swan’s Wings

The Swan’s Wings You really only appreciate how large and imposing a swan is when they rear up out of the water and spread their magnificent wings. While at The Lough on Sunday there were a number of fights between swans. Guess it’s that time of the year again, eh? The swans were fairly tame […]

The Lough Photowalkers

The Lough Photowalkers We had a great day today. 11 people showed up at the Lough in Glasheen today for the photowalk. Pictured above are some of us. Unfortunately Patrick and Amy, and then Brendan left earlier. Thank you all for taking the time and making the effort to come. It was freezing cold and […]

Learning the ropes

Learning the ropes Ropes tie up small boats in Bantry, Co Cork. The tide is very far out and many boats are stranded in the mud. I love the texture of rope. Yummy. Looking forward to meeting you all at the photowalk tomorrow!

Old farm building in ruins

Old farm building in ruins Out in the wilds of Co Cork, to the north of Bantry I found an old deserted farm. The house looked like it had been empty for some time and some of the out buildings were in worse repair. Don’t forget the photowalk on Sunday!

The long road

The long road A road winds into the hills north of Bantry. Yesterday’s photo of the Bantry hills was taken just up the road from here! I joined Red Bubble yesterday and sold a photo already, although I think it was Pete who bought it as I emailed him last night about it. Nice selection […]

The rolling hills of Bantry

The rolling hills of Bantry This is one of my favourite shots from the weekend in Bantry. Basically I drove up the back roads out of Bantry town, then came to another town and picked the smallest road out of that place before going up a tiny little boithirin with barely room for my car. […]

O’Keeffe Lounge and Bar

O’Keeffe Lounge and Bar I happened upon the O’Keeffe Lounge and Bar while wandering around Bantry last Sunday morning. Given the name of the establishment I just had to take a shot didn’t I? Note the “Welcome to the pint depot” quotation? Congratulations to Gingerpixel who won Best Photoblog at last night’s Irish Blog Awards. […]

Mountain Daffodil

Mountain Daffodil A daffodil in the garden of a house in the hills north east of Bantry Bay. I drove up there last Saturday morning and stopped when I saw the open gate. Wandering in the driveway I took a few shots of the view and then noticed these daffodils growing. I prefer the daffodils. […]

Face in the machine

Face in the machine A cement mixer on Patrick Street coming out of Drawbridge Street stopped and I spotted the two faces in the poster.

Musical Posters

Musical Posters Wouldn’t it be great if posters sang to you? Christy Moore would sang a ballad about Guinness and a surf board while Lovely Girls would scream and shout. Meanwhile Shayne Ward would sing something or other. Not sure who he is. He won one of those x-factor things didn’t he? I like my […]
