14 August 2007 - Sometimes I just miss talking to youA sticker on the back of a STOP sign reads, “Sometimes I just miss talking to you” and is signed “The 508″. A message of love for someone missing, or mindless graffiti? What makes the image for me is the couple walking by at the bottom of the frame. The sticker could be a speech bubble above their heads.
Shot on Oliver Plunkett Street a few month’s back while walking around Cork City.
PS. Welcome all from Creative Ireland!
2 August 2007 - Absolutely crazy in IrelandI spotted this sticker on the pier at Currabinny, Co. Cork. I have no idea what “Absolutely, Crazy – Cowes’05″ refers to and a quick bit of research didn’t show up anything.
Does this ring a bell with anyone?
18 July 2007 - Blitz in CorkA modified car sits parked in front of the Carroll’s Quay car park in Cork. The distinctive logo on the wing reminds me of the Transformers.
Maybe the driver is a fan?
30 May 2007 - Royal purple ciderAfter a particularly grueling few hours traipsing around the shops in Cork I was on my way to Vibes and Scribes in Bridge Street when I spotted an empty can of Bulmers in front of the purple doors of an old building on Camden Place. In fact it’s the front door of the Cork Rape Crisis Centre. Obviously a drunk had taken shelter in the doorway the previous night.
Yes, that’s my shadow in the door!
PS. thank you so much for the comments yesterday. Rest assured, the donkey will be returning to a screen near you!
The Tour Bus just left without me! An open top bus brings tourists around the city, where to? I’m not sure, I’ve never taken it!
This was on Grand Parade about 9 months ago. The plastic dividers in the middle of the street are now gone and where that bus is driving is now pavement, with the odd road works still going on.
25 April 2007 - Stop for fourThe light says stop so we stop. A junction in downtown San Francisco as we walked about town. I just realised the vehicle in the picture is parked awfully close to the corner. There isn’t any driver staring madly at the camera. Hope he didn’t get a ticket. That’s Banana Republic across the street and what looks like Rinelli?
Off to the hospital again in a short while. Unlike the beautiful blue sky in this photo it’s overcast outside, but I’ll be in a hospital room for most of the day so it doesn’t matter..
13 April 2007 - A motorbike’s shadowA motorbike sits half in shadow creating an almost monochrome image. It was parked on a hill in San Francisco last year.
This is actually a moped, and I found much more on the subject on the Wikipedia page on Mopeds.
10 April 2007 - Blue skies contrail and cloudsA wall of the Beamish and Crawford Brewery blocks the sun in this shot taken on South Main Street, Cork.
Blue skies are great for sun worshippers but photographers don’t like them. It’s always better to have some cloud or interest in the sky. The fluffier and more solid the better, as long as some blue sky can be seen.
8 April 2007 - Letters onlyThe post box at Garretstown, Co. Cork pictured last year but in pretty much the same condition yesterday when we drove past on the way home. I love the worn texture of the paint!
I like this: Headphoneland
30 March 2007 - Silhouettes in the clubSome of the audience who gathered to take part in the Stanley Super 800 video of Gatecrashing silhouetted against the bright lights around the band’s equipment.
I underexposed on purpose so the silhouettes of the people in the image contrasted with the stage lighting. Shot during a break in performances when most people were outside getting some air!
