		<description>It wasn&#039;t unsharp mask. Ah, I just found what I did - I copied the background layer and ran the &quot;Retinex&quot; filter on it before combining that layer with the background one using a not-normal layer mode and then turning it b/w using the channel mixer.

Unsharp mask was applied at the end but only in the usual proportions! :)</description>
