I believe that is clematis…a gorgeous climbing, flowering vine.

Looks like they’re a type of Campanula or bell flower. There’s lots of varieties, it looks like maybe Campanula portenschlagiana, or Wall Bellflower, but I’m no expert.

Caity – multiple question marks aren’t a very polite way of asking a question. It’s rather demanding an answer. When s/he didn’t get a response immediately he repeated it within an hour. That person has obviously not been back here since, shows how much they really care about that question!

Hey I was wondering, there was a post about a movie filmed in Ireland where a chance encounter changes their lives. I believe this movie was PS I love you. I also have been trying to find the name of the purple flowers in this movie, they first appear in a planting pot in a home garden, but later in the movie they (well I believe it is the same flowers) are seen growing in the wild, can you please e-mail the common name of these flowers. Other than the movie reference I’m not plant expert and don’t know best how to describe them.

donncha, while watching a movie concerning lovers lives which were changed by a chance meeting and a first kiss in ireland, these flowers( i imagine) loomed throughout the backdrop of ireland. since that viewing, i’d been haunted day and night by the thoughts of them. now, with your “Blathanna Corcora”, i no longer feel the urge to continue my common name search. allowing “the irish for purple flowers” to satisfy the drive; however, not surpressing the beauty in them.

Tiea – sorry, I should have explained earlier. “Blathanna Corcora” is the Irish for “Purple Flowers”. That was for the benefit of confusing Bobbi who was so rude, but I forgot to mention it later. Good luck find them. They’re very persistent little flowers though.

I did a web search for “Blathanna Corcora” and can’t find it anywhere. I have a very similar flower in my garden, in fact, I think it’s the exact same one, but I don’t know the name. I wanted to do a search for more flowers of this kind, to make sure that this one photo wasn’t the only one that looked similar, but that isn’t coming up. Not even in several plant searches I’ve done. Do you happen to know the common name? Or another name? Thanks.
