The door of a garage on French’s Quay, Cork. Not quite the Number 5 I remember but I Like the colours!

  5. Hi Donncha,
    enjoy looking at your photos, and as a native of cork city have a particular interest in your shots. although i’ve always had an interest in photography i’ve only recently gone out and bought myself a Canon 350D. i’ve had my camera a few months now and still don’t have a grasp on it. the manual is a very daunting and technical read and so i don’t have the patience to study it. i’m sure the best way to get to know the camera is by just going out and start snapping all around and experimenting a bit. i think i have an eye for a good photo but when i get back and download the photos onto my laptop i’m often let down by the quality of the some of the shots, ie bad exposure, dull looking photos.
    what i’m getting at really i suppose is- do you have any advice for a complete beginner into photography? would you know of any hotspots around cork to get some nice photos? i only have a 18mm-55mm lens, how far can you get wuth this type of lens, can you recommend another type? do you use filters?
    sorry if this comment is too long!!! but i would appreciate any advice….
