He has a length of string in his hand, there's a small tube connected to it flying around near the ground. That's what he pulled out. There's another guy on the other side but I cropped him out for creative purposes :) Cornell - I did use flash, I'm glad I brought my heavy EX580 as it worked wonderfully. I'm not experienced enough at using it to shoot at anything but program mode so it used a setting of 1/60 sec and about f/8. I had to blur the crowd in the backround a small bit because the DOF was so deep! All images were converted using the channel mixer in the GIMP. Before converting I noted what the strong colours were. Mr Crow's shirt is blue so I made sure to pump up the blue channel a bit and checked the "monochrome" checkbox.
