Lonely Boat in Fountainstown

lonely boat in fountainstown

A boat sits alone on the hard ground while it’s brethren bob up and down in the tide around Fountainstown in Co Cork.

This presented me with a bit of a dilemma. I originally cropped the sky out because it was washed out but after careful work with the RAW image I restored detail to that area of the photo. Now I’m torn between this and the cropped version but I think this one wins out. The clouds have a sense of motion that contrasts with the rest of the image in a way I find very pleasing.

I’m thinking about this too much.

I think you got it just right. cropping the sky out altogether would have really taken something away from this photo.nice pp

I know exactly what you mean. I really like the photo, but there’s part of me that feels like the clouds draw away from the boat too much. But the clouds look too beautiful to crop…

I’d say try it both both ways.
