Will - thanks, that sounds like an interesting app. I haven't heard from them but I'm sure if they had really wanted some free publicity they would have got in touch.
I suppose because they're in the embedded market their target audience isn't the photographer, it's the camera manufacturer. They might not see a need to seed interest in the end users because it's already there.

Anyone from Fotonation reading this blog? I hope you're tracking what blogs <a href="http://ocaoimh.ie/2007/03/05/how-i-know-whos-talking-about-me/" rel="nofollow">say</a> about you!

First off I have to say sorry....

Last week there was a jobs fair in Motorola for those being shunted off the corporate coil, and a company called FotoNation (http://www.fotonation.com/) with offices in Galway.

I mentioned you to them... assuming you haven't heard from then I probably spelt your name wrong.

The company makes the software in the digital camera, and one of their apps is setting up a ip connection (MTP IP standard) to a PC (auto posting of images) and other devices, like automatically connection to a GPS device, extracting the current location and tagging the numbers to the image.

Thought you might be interested, and you might be able to snag a few demo cameras....

Dave - next time you're here you'll be amazed at the changes. A lot has changed in 8 years in Cork as I'm sure you've gathered from my photos of the construction work.
Great write up on your trip. Very entertaining!

I keep meaning to upload my photos from Cork to flickr: http://davespicks.com/pictures/vacation1999/tocork.html . This is a handy reminder. Might need some help with the geotagging though. It's been over seven years, and we may have had a pint or two (http://davespicks.com/pictures/vacation1999/f/29.html) while wandering about, so all the details are not as clear as they might otherwise be...

Cool! I'm actually in the process of setting up a Cork group photoblog at http://www.pana-vision.org (as in Pana - Patrick St). I'm hoping to have a Googlemaps app showing where the posts are all taken. You interested? The photos can already have been posted on your own blog and you can link to the blog post or just your own blog in each post. I'll be looking for photographers from the Cork groups on Flickr too but preferably I'd like to start things off with a few established bloggers who could add their own posts.
