Expired Meter

Posted on 27 August 2007

An expired meter I spotted while we waited for a table to become free in a restaurant in San Francisco a few blocks from Union Square.

Photo has been "cross processed" using the Curves tool. I created an S curve on the red and green channels, and then applied a lomo plugin for good effect!

    I love the Lomo effect

    Where did found it ?

I love the effect on this photo. Question, what is a “lomo plugin”?

  • I blogged about the gimp lomo plugin years ago but it looks like the domain hosting the script has been grabbed by a domainer unfortunately. Looks like there are 2 lomo plugins on the GIMP registry but I haven’t tried them. The GIMP plugin I used simply creates a darkened border around the image.

Oh, lomo, look here for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lomography

Looks great, love the strong blues and oranges. I thought from the thumbnail that It was a real lomograph, but the clarity of the 10-20mm sigma lens gives it away ;) got a nice action that automates the process pretty well in photoshop (for most cases at least) from this website

  • Alex blogged a photo today that was taken very close by. See the pole in the background with the sign saying “Geary”? That’s the pole the “Inside Job” leaflet was stuck to in my photo above!

I’ve been trying to get that cross processed look for ages – without knowing what it was called! Thanks for the tip.

  • Alex says:

Heh – I was just about to ask if that was the same restaurant.
