CELTIC FIShER

The Celtic Fisher, out of Tralee, was docked in Dingle Harbour in early November.

    I had a dream of buying an old trawler and converting it into a floating camper van (you could probably winch a small car onto it) and then travel the coast and maybe even across to France for a bit of a holiday (and loads of space for wine). Anyway, apart from not knowing port from starboard I saw no problem wit this ridiculous idea. Then I met a taxi driver who used to be a trawler man in Achill and he tells me that the steel hulled boats drink diesel so I should get a timber boat (visions of acres of sanding and varnishing every year) and that was where my dream ended……..until I saw this picture. Now I just need to get the money, sell the idea to the wife, learn to refurbish a boat and paint it with a VW symbol and so on.

    Great shot as well. Makes me think of wandering on the pier eating a 99 and dreaming of my floating camper van idea.

    LOL, or just wait for the ferry to start up again and head over to Swansea?

    I remember seeing cars coming off the Naomh Ciaran II in Cape Clear several years ago. Car had been resting on what looked like beams lashed on to the deck because it was so big. Wouldn’t have liked to share that journey!

      Thanks Lloyd for the comments! Want to know how I processed them?

      1. Copy the image into a new layer.
      2. Change that layer to b/w using whatever your favourite method is.
      3. Change that layer mode to overlay. Woah!
      4. Play around with the transparency settings of the b/w layer.
      5. Reduce the overall saturation of the colour image by about 60% and then increase the saturation of prominent/select colours to suit your tastes.

      Sssh, don’t tell anyone! :)
