While on our photowalk today we passed these buildings on the sea front. I thought they were just another apartment building until I noticed that the balconies were fenced in by planks of wood held together loosely!

Camden Fort near Crosshaven in Co Cork was part of a photowalk last Sunday and we visited Spike Island on Saturday, it was great visiting such historical sites. We were so lucky with the weather as the rain stayed off and Camden Fort on Sunday was bathed in strong sunlight!

Both sites are still being developed. Camden Fort is manned by volunteers with a few people paid by FAS who helped clear 21 years of undergrowth and weeds. You should visit and talk to the volunteers as they’re so enthusiastic about the project and friendly you’ll spend quite a lot of time talking! Our trip to Spike Island was way too short and we all agreed that we didn’t have enough time to explore it fully.

More photos from the photowalk:

I’ve already covered the chemtrails conspiracy but they’re such a frequent and visible part of the sky that I have to shoot them sometimes.

This was taken in Blarney, the trail is from a high flying plane going west to the USA.

Arrangements for the photowalk on the 26th are surging ahead. Pat got in touch to say we can shoot from the roof of the Montenotte Hotel where we meet. The speedboat is organised (max 4 passengers but I won’t be going, stomach is still feeling fragile!) and then a complementary lunch for all photowalkers in the Boardwalk Bar & Grill around noon. See the photowalk post if you’re interested in staying in the hotel on the previous night.
Should be the best photowalk yet!

The old Dunnes Stores building on Patrick’s Street in Cork is keeping it’s old style and attractive front facade. Phew. I still think it’s odd how a building site juts out behind it though.

PS. The nominations form for the Irish Blog Awards is now open. If you feel it deserves it, I’d be very grateful if you would nominate this blog in the “Best Photoblog” section. Like last year, I’m not going to stick a huge “vote for me” link on the blog and this is the only mention of the awards I’ll make.
