Daisy drops of rain Rain drops show on the white petals of a daisy that struggles amid the ruins of an old hospital building. I wonder if that building is still there? I’ll have to go look someday.

Water Drops in Cobh Water drops from a railing in Cobh after a particularly heavy rain early in the day. That day’s shooting in Cobh was quite successful and by the evening there was a beautiful glow from the setting sun. I took these firework photos from a spot on the right of this image. [...]

The little red door A small house is stuck between two larger buildings in Dingle, Co. Kerry. I’m not sure what caught my eye in the first place but I think it was the red door. Shot on a wet morning that brightened up after an hour of intense rain.

Standing in the gutter

Standing in the gutter It’s pouring rain, I’m just after eating a delicious meal with family and what do I do? Go shoot the leaves in the drain across the road. I can tell you it was difficult enough holding the umbrella in one hand, camera in the other, thinking about composition and keeping my [...]

Wet Wellow Web Early in the morning dew coats everything and water droplets on spider webs glisten in the rising sun. I’m not sure where this was taken, it was probably somewhere in Blarney but it was taken with my Panasonic FZ5 last September and I only copied it off a few days ago!

The Apple Store An apple stall at the Midleton Food and Drink Festival last weekend. It was a wet morning and when I saw the water glistening on the apples I just had to make this photo. Technique: Photo was levels adjusted manually because the GIMP thought there was too much green in the image, [...]

Not happy in the rain

Not happy in the rain Moments after my previous shot another group ran for cover from the downpour! Definitely not “singing in the rain” this morning!

Grab your bag and run!

Grab your bag and run! I’m not sure where this is. We sheltered from a very heavy rain storm and watched while people ran for cover from all over. Thankfully the storm didn’t last too long and I wandered to Millennium Park!

A rose by any other colour

Filed in Black and White, Blarney, Flowers, Photos, RainTags: , , , ,

A rose by any other colour One of the Blarney Castle roses. The original was very saturated and detail was lost in the bright red of the petals. Making a monochrome image made the detail stand out and drops became visible again. A little dodge and burn to finish.
