Penn Stivien 671km

Penn Stivien is 671km from this town in Kerry. I can’t remember the name of the place now, but they have a bar/restaurant there that serves fabulous food. I don’t remember the name of that either. :)

Donncha and Justin

Down in Kinsale on Monday, I watched a couple get their small boat ready to sail off into the harbour with my friend Justin. He’s a keen sailor but he hasn’t been on the water in ages, and I could see he was itching to get out there. To be honest, the evening was so nice I would have liked to get out there and sail off on the calm waters.

This was actually just outside Gallery ICA. We popped in for a minute but Haydn was on the phone and couldn’t talk so we didn’t stay too long. Did I say how nice the evening was? Got lots of shots too of a very busy bank holiday Kinsale. The place was teeming with people.

PS. I’m going to be plugging the Doneraile Photowalk all this week. Hope to see you there on Sunday!

Gentle Smile

A model smiles for the camera at Mallow Camera Club’s studio portrait night. This was back in 2006 and I had promised the girls involved that night I’d send on their photos. Unfortunately it took longer than I thought to work on them. Here’s a photo of the other model I shot that night.

Margi

Margi is an artist and business woman living in Oracle, Arizona in the US. She makes beautiful handmade jewelry and glass beads from this small building near an iron smith in the town. I bought a few items for my wife and she loves them.

If you’re near Oracle, call in and say hi. She’s busy but is lovely to chat with and will gladly sell you beautiful jewelry!

Fred Fans

Two enthusiastic fans of Cork band, Fred, when they played at the May Day celebrations in Cork back in 2005. I loved their first album, but the second one was just more of the same. Great to hear and watch live though!

fancy ass public transport

OK, so it’s not quite a bus, but it’s a stretch limo. I saw it again today cruising up and down Patrick’s Street with the rear window open a crack. I’d hate to see that try to navigate a tight bend!

John Sullivan

This is John Sullivan, a man we met near the beach at Allihies in West Cork a few days ago. He’s quite a remarkable man, especially as he will be 91 in June. I’ll be very happy with myself if I’m as fit and healthy as he is when I celebrate my 91st birthday!

The photo isn’t the best I could manage but I only took the one shot and wanted to share it. There was a very strong light behind him from the afternoon sun and I used the on-camera flash to fill in the shadows as best I could.

Adam O Caoimh

I couldn’t let today go by without posting some photos of our little boy Adam on his first birthday! Happy birthday son! Mom and Dad love you to bits. Hopefully you won’t be too embarrassed by this post in years to come!

He’s grown up so fast in front of our eyes and developing into a proper little boy it’s amazing. I’d hardly recognise the tiny little baby he was just a year ago.

A young girl on Patrick’s Street pushes her buggy with her mothercare bag. See the face she’s making? She means business!

We walked around The Lough and wandered over to the daffodils growing by the footpath at one of the lake. That’s Sean Murphy in the background as he preps some of his equipment to take a shot.

Probably my last photo from the Lough Photowalk!
