Splendor in the grass

It’s so wonderful to see small little daisies growing up all on their own surrounded by grass everywhere. When the sun is shining and there is nothing to do except eat a nice picnic and stroll by the beach I’m in heaven.

I shot these bright little daisies down in Garrettstown, Co. Cork a few months ago.

Doorway into the gloom

Taken almost a year ago, this doorway leads into an old building on the grounds of a hospital in Cork. A cherry blossom can be seen blooming outside contrasting with the gloom and ruin of the interior.

While on the hospital theme, I wrote up our experiences at the new Cork University Maternity Hospital yesterday. They have major problems there and most of them can be traced back to under staffing of the facility.

This photo was made from two exposures. I didn’t use a tripod, instead placing the camera on a chair to avoid any shakes. I quickly bracketed a few shots and merged them together later in the GIMP.

City flowers in the sun

Flowers in the Peace Park in Cork flourish in the early April sunlight last year. Does anyone recognise this one?

Good luck to everyone competing at the Blog Awards tonight and have a great night regardless!

What the hell! Flickr gave me a dud URL again. That’s three in a row. Time to complain.

City flowers

Kristy asked for a desktop sized version so here’s a 1024×768 version that is the proper dimensions for a standard desktop. Most of my photos have a 1.5 ratio between sides so I had to crop this to 1.33. Please if you use it, leave in my name and URL at bottom of the image. Thanks!

Looking out from Homely House

Last September we stayed in Dingle for a weekend and had lunch in Homely House, a restaurant in the town. Check out the previous link for a picture of Brian Lapen and EagleSpirit who ran the cafe.

Unfortunately for Dingle they’re now in Hawaii, and the building was destined for demolition last I heard so it’s quite likely this view is gone now!

Alcatraz Flowers

The entrance to Alcatraz Prison is up a series of steps near these flowers. I love how they catch the light while the background is in the shade of the prison.

After yesterday’s flood of posts it’s nice to get back to the one-a-day habit although I wonder why Technorati hasn’t picked up on my IT@Cork2006 tag yet. Grrr.

It seems that they haven’t looked at my feed or updated their records of my posts yet because if you look under Canon 20d several of the posts I made yesterday show up. Not this one just yet. I guess there are lots of blogs out there!

Wet Wellow Web

Early in the morning dew coats everything and water droplets on spider webs glisten in the rising sun.

I’m not sure where this was taken, it was probably somewhere in Blarney but it was taken with my Panasonic FZ5 last September and I only copied it off a few days ago!

The lone daisy

A solitary daisy grows in front of a small house in Fountainstown.

This was an interesting photo for me to take. I spotted the daisy while walking out the road but I didn’t stop to shoot it until returning. I’m glad I remembered it! I’m really happy with the way this came out.
