Water laps the shore at Fountainstown Beach on a crisp September evening.

Bubbling Water

Water flows down to the beach at Fountainstown, bubbling as it goes over rocks and seaweed. PS. I’ve reduced the cost of all prints by about $50 to $80 for the largest size framed prints. Most of the cost goes towards manufacturing and my markup is only 20% on all prints. Check ‘em out in [...]

Wet, shiny stones

The outgoing tide on Fountainstown Beach leaves behind wet stones and seaweed as it retreats. This is a long exposure shot of one second with my camera resting on one of those rocks! By the time you read this I’ll be on a plane, in the air most likely, or waiting for a connection in [...]

Springer at Fountainstown

I always have a soft spot for Springer Spaniels. The beaches at Myrtleville and Fountainstown seem to be a favourite haunt of them if our experiences are anything to go by. Here’s a Springer that played with my son Adam at the beach in Fountainstown. They had a great time together! Almost recovered. Stomach is [...]

Bucket and Spade

My son’s bucket and spade lie forgotten on Fountainstown Beach while he goes off throwing stones in the water.

Fuchsia

Fuchsia flowers are really difficult to photograph. You need a macro lens because the flower is so small and a regular lens has trouble focusing so close. The flowers hang down and catch the wind so easily it’s quite a challenge to get a steady shot. Here’s one I shot earlier in Fountainstown, Co Cork [...]

Windswept Daisies

Daisies cling to the sparse earth at the water’s edge in Fountainstown, Co Cork. This was taken just a few metres from my previous Fountainstown picture and was mocking me for over 2 years, sitting in my “Work in Progress” folder, defying my attempts to capture the feeling of that cold October day in 2006.

The tide is out at Fountainstown

The tide was out on this evening when we visited Fountainstown in Co Cork in 2006. This photo of a boat was taken across those mud flats on a later visit so there’s plenty of opportunity for photographers there.

Angela’s Shop and Coffee Dock in Fountainstown Co Cork. This shop has been at the beach in Fountainstown for the last 20 years (according to the owner) but I had never ventured inside until today. We were served lovely cups of tea which we enjoyed outside in the blazing sun. I had hoped to shoot [...]
