A doorstep next to the Bodega on Cornmarket Street Cork. Does anyone remember what building was here? It’s always been empty as long as I remember!

Guysal Ltd must had an office on Cornmarket Street some time ago as the phone numbers above aren’t valid Cork numbers any more. Both should have a “4″ prefix now. This wall was exposed during the extensive construction work on the old Guy and Company building on that street.

Guysal Ltd are now in Ovens, Co. Cork.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t know where Cock Pit Lane was, or if you had never heard of it. It’s a small lane off Cornmarket Street, Cork.

I was fascinated by the slight change in meaning of the English and Irish names. The Irish name, “Lana Troid Coileach” literally means, “Cock Fight Lane”, a much less politically correct interpretation I’m sure you’ll agree. I don’t think the name changed in recent times because the only hit for this lane in Google is a PDF file listing O’Shea family members. Apparently William Shea, a publican, lived on Cock-Pit Lane in 1795. Pity there isn’t any more information.

This wasn’t shot yesterday at the photomeet, but I will be posting more of yesterday’s shots during the week!

They’re obviously going to buy Ford Motor Company. The owner of the Ford Fiesta this sticker was stuck on can obviously see the future.
Delivery people already have their white vans. It’s simply a matter of plastering them with an Apple logo.

The “Apple Transit” anyone?

Two kids running along Cornmarket Street last August had a great time. I don’t think they were being chased by anyone so it was pure innocent fun!

Heading into the hospital again shortly. In between taking care of Adam with Jacinta I watched Kill Bill 2 on the Macbook which has become a glorified DVD player. I’m tempted to copy over some of my WP projects so my brain doesn’t turn to mush. I have three ideas for different plugins I’m trying to find time to code.

Post no bills on the wooden boards surrounding the building site on Cornmarket Street. The red brick wall is the front of the old Guy and Company building. It looks like the builders are going to incorporate that into their new building which is great – mixing old with new.

I followed Mike’s advice in his comment and bought a Wacom Graphire4 off Pixmania. Mynn’s post about his Volito2 Graphics Tablet sealed the deal, especially when he said that the “A6 working area is MORE THAN ENOUGH”. Hopefully it’ll be delivered early next week. I’ll ask Jacinta to open the box and verify that it’s in one piece but I’m not going to touch it before Christmas Day!

This city’s a drag

Two women, dragged along by a young girl so they won’t stop at the market on Cornmarket Street, Cork. I can just imagine the conversion:
“But I want to go home noooowwwww.”
“No, hold on, we went to all your shops, I want to look at more boots.”
“Ummm, that stall over there has delicious breads.”
“I’m tired!”

Maybe.

I’m really happy with the way this image turned out because we were right next to them and I wasn’t sure if I would get them all in. In the end I had to crop to get the composition I wanted. I duplicated the layer and darken the top one before removing the non-cloud portions of it. I added a slight lomo effect too which did wonderful things to the sky too!
