Scart Road

Scart Road Scart Road, or Bothar na Scairte in Bantry, Co. Cork. When you leave the wide open area near the harbour in Bantry you come across really steep hills to the east. I happened to walk that way pushing a buggy so I had to stop and catch my breath here before heading on […]

No. 20, Bantry

No. 20, Bantry I walked around Bantry Town a bit snapping the local streets and this house appealed to me. I think I saw it in b/w and the lovely texture of the walls. It could also have been the hill and I wanted a small break from pushing the buggy around too of course.

Old farm building in ruins

Old farm building in ruins Out in the wilds of Co Cork, to the north of Bantry I found an old deserted farm. The house looked like it had been empty for some time and some of the out buildings were in worse repair. Don’t forget the photowalk on Sunday!

The City of San Francisco

The City of San Francisco San Francisco as seen from the hills surrounding the City. I took this back in August 2006. Can you tell yet that I merged a few of my work directories after doing some house keeping work on my photo archive? Thanks to Niall Kennedy for driving us up there!

Emerald House B&B

Emerald House B&B At the corner of the main green in Blarney sits Emerald House B&B. I’ve never stayed there but they have a great location, right next to Blarney Castle.

Towering over Cork City

Towering over Cork City This tower is visible from a few places in Cork. I remember seeing it from near The South Infirmary and this is it seen from the multi storey carpark on the Grand Parade. Is it up by Barracks Street? I’m in Arizona for the week. Postings may be late in the […]

Girl on dad’s shoulders

Girl on dad’s shoulders A small girl sits on (I presume) her dad’s shoulders on Patrick’s Street. In the background is the Savoy Shopping Center, and of course the building side behind Dunnes is clearly visible in the scaffolding supports to the far left.

Rooftop Surveillance

Rooftop Surveillance The houses and roofs of the North Side, Cork City. This was taken from Carroll’s Quay carpark almost a month ago. I love the old-style quality of the image, even if the shadow of the dish at the bottom detracts from that a bit. Check out Stabarinde’s Christmas in Cork shots. I’m glad […]

Slow down in 2008

Slow down in 2008 I’m going to slow down this year. I’ve been trying to keep up with everyone else, moving without thinking, on auto pilot sometimes. I blog too fast. There! I’ve said it. I tried to post here, to Holy Shmoly!, to The Funny Video Blog every day but there’s only so much […]

Cork Landmarks

Cork Landmarks In this one single image are pictured several landmark buildings in Cork City: The bell tower of St. Anne’s Church, or Shandon Bells as it’s commonly known as. The North Cathedral can be glimpsed in the background. Part of SS Peter & Paul’s Church off Patrick Street in the foreground, and the distinctive […]

For sale at Sherry FitzGerald

For sale at Sherry FitzGerald These are the swanky new offices of estate agent Sherry FitzGerald in Cork. I find it intriguing that the owners decided to bring in other agents to sell the other floor space in the building. There are signs for Savills/Hamilton Osborn King and Lisney on the top floor directly above […]

Housing market slow?

Housing market slow? The Irish housing market is slowing down but sales are still being made. A tiny house down the road from this one in Blarney sold a few weeks ago even though I’m sure you could hardly swing a cat in it …

The Kerry Flag

The Kerry Flag Kerry were still celebrating their win in the All Ireland when we stayed in Dingle a few weeks back and flags were flying everywhere!

Clouds move at night

Clouds move at night Clouds fly across the sky in this nighttime shot of Cork City. A crane is in the middle distance, practically a symbol of the City at this stage. The building site in the foreground is on the old site of the Guy And Company building. There’s St. Anne’s Church or Shandon […]
