11 February 2007 - Cupid’s Arrow and the birdsCupid’s Arrow in San Francisco provides an interesting silhouette against the evening sky. If you’ve payed close attention to my photos in the past you might think this is a duplicate of another shot but it’s from a slightly different angle and wider, and I feel stronger because of the pattern the birds make in the sky. What do you think?
09 February 2007 - Many faces in the crowdA crowd of Alcatraz sightseers prepares to disembark from the ferry back at San Francisco. From the expressions on a few faces I think they were wondering what that guy was doing with his camera held in the air!
I love the patterns in the roof and the contrast with the metal grill, you can’t take me anywhere that I won’t take a photo!
06 February 2007 - San Francisco DPT on the jobThe San Francisco Department of Parking and Traffic (DPT) have painted the kerb of the sidewalk in the city to designate different parking areas in the city.
Wandering around the city I was struck by the startling paint job on the ground, especially the “warning” colours used. It didn’t stop people double parking though, but I didn’t spot any traffic cops around either!
04 February 2007 - Alcatraz StaircaseA lonely staircase on Alcatraz is off-limtis to tourists but not to the eye of my camera.
03 February 2007 - Sailing In San FranciscoA yacht sails past the waterfront in San Francisco Bay. There was plenty of activity on the waters with ferries, yachts, kite surfers and even helicopters fly overhead.
02 February 2007 - Corrugated Prison RoofVisitors to Alcatraz Island walk about on the broad path up to the main prison building.
Some of the buildings on the island are in a bad state of repair, lacking everything but the brick walls that stand like a whitewashed skeletons. This building is about halfway up the hill and in much better condition.
01 February 2007 - Alcatraz Tower and PrisonThe prison tower and buildings of Alcatraz provide a stark welcome for visitors to the former penitentiary.
Despite my close investigation, the tower in this picture was off limits. Pity, because I bet there’d be a great view from up there!
21 January 2007 - Bay Bridge ReflectionsLight from the Bay Bridge in San Francsico shimmers in the waters of the harbour. To the left one of the fire fighting boats of the SF Fire Department can be seen.
Posting this landmark of San Francisco today as most of the rest of Automattic make their way to Mexico. Here’s another shot from another night near the bridge.
11 August 2006 - Six Apart Mark
Niall Kennedy drove myself and Mark Jaquith around on a small sight seeing tour of the local attractions in San Francisco after WordCamp last Saturday.
A visit to the offices of Six Apart proved to be too good a thing to pass up so we posed for a few photos on their door step!
WordCamp was great, I met really nice people, I uploaded a set of photos to Flickr, linked to a few reports on it, and was very glad I got home on Tuesday. Imagine having to put your camera equipment into the hold of an airliner?

In the background is the famous Golden Gate Bridge leading to San Francisco. Thank you Diane for the directions to this amazing viewing point and thank you Toni for the lend of the car!
