Letters only The post box at Garretstown, Co. Cork pictured last year but in pretty much the same condition yesterday when we drove past on the way home. I love the worn texture of the paint! I like this: Headphoneland
Alcatraz Control Center The Control Center in Alcatraz. This room is visible to all visitors to the prison and is beautifully preserved. I couldn’t find anything specific about this room but Alcatraz History has a very good site with lots of information about the prison on Alcatraz Island.
A view on an Alcatraz Street Looking through a doorway onto one of the streets of Alcatraz Prison in San Francisco. Tourists congregate while listening to the electronic tour guide. I think I should have all my photos of Alcatraz and San Francisco posted before my next trip there in July.
From the old hospital to the new In stark contrast to the newly built Cork University Maternity Hospital this was taken in one of the older ones. If you look carefully you can read the notice on the wall which starts, ‘Central Sterile Supply Department’. This building is in a state of disrepair you’d hardly […]

Rusted, old and bent This is part of another pillar near the one pictured yesterday but in much worse condition. I love the textures and the way that rust practically flows down. It’s a shame I didn’t get everything in focus though. I figured out why my posts started showing “This photo is currently unavailable”. […]
Fianna Fail in Cork Fianna Fail, “The Republican Party”, had an office on the Grand Parade in Cork for years. Last time I looked the building was derelict. Anyone want to compare the state of their Cork office to their policies or chances in the next election? Fianna Fail have been in power almost continuously […]
Innovative Streets It’s good to look down sometimes. I think this was used to hold a decorative safety pole but I don’t remember ever seeing it used. There are poles on the other side of this narrow street however. The street of course is Paul Street behind Waterstones. I was going to blog that yesterday […]
The broom at 187 Walking through the urban environment the seemingly normal assortment of rubbish or objects can make an image that bit more interesting. This was taken in August, but guess who forgot to bring in the Christmas lights? Oh yes, a small tip if you’re adding noise to an image. You’ll need to […]
