04 January 2009 - Smiles all around
The smiling attractive face of a model appeared on the hoarding surrounding the building site that is Dunnes Stores in Cork several months ago. It hasn’t had much of an effect on all however.
11 December 2008 - Madagascar 2
An empty Mc Donald’s promotional meal box sits inside the window of Mc Donald’s in Daunt Square in Cork.
Check out newborn.ie, Claire Wilson’s new photography business! Good luck Claire. Lovely photos!
19 August 2008 - Why does my Canon 20D keep clicking?
Bord Gais, fuelling the passion for Camogie in Cork. Or is it the wine? I couldn’t resist taking this shot this evening!
This is the second last photo I took with my Canon 20D before the shutter started clicking continuously. The last one is a slightly blurry shot of my family and inlaws in the pictured Wine Bar on Washington Street, Cork. I had just taken the shot, decided it was time to put the camera away and get Adam out of the buggy. I put the lens cap on, and click, click, click, click..
The clicks would only stop when I took the battery out. It appears from this thread that I’m not alone. I know that in the old days, cameras would last decades and “they don’t make them like they used to”, but I never expected the Canon 20D to break down on me in just 3 years. At a guess, I’ve probably shot 75,000 pictures with it so perhaps it was about time the shutter complained.
Anyway, I’m going to ring Canon in Dublin tomorrow for a repair quote. If it’s too expensive I’ll have to look into getting a replacement camera. Hope the house insurance will pay out in that case.
14 May 2008 - Your future: wear a beard
Important decisions in life. What job will I do in the future and should I wear a beard? I’ve got the job bit covered, but would I look better with a beard? I think there’d be trouble if I tried growing one!
The wearbeard sticker really caught my eye. It’s just weird to create a site about that but it takes all sorts I guess.
21 February 2008 - Musical Posters
Wouldn’t it be great if posters sang to you? Christy Moore would sang a ballad about Guinness and a surf board while Lovely Girls would scream and shout.
Meanwhile Shayne Ward would sing something or other. Not sure who he is. He won one of those x-factor things didn’t he?
I like my peace and quiet.
03 February 2008 - Niketown: Run on AirThe Nike Store, Niketown, on Union Square, San Francisco as seen in 2006.
06 January 2008 - I want real spam!Oh, delicious spam! How I love you so! I want to spread you on sandwiches and lick the knife clean! Oh Yum!
Or not. I’ve never tasted the edible variety of spam, but like everyone else online I’ve had my fair share of spam emails, comments and blogs.
This is the real spam, made by Hormel. I spotted it in a store in San Francisco and snapped a quick shot of the aisle. Unfortunately the light was bad but, if you’ve never come across it before, it’s a novelty worth posting, right?
Current spam stats:
1. Inphotos: 8510
2. Holy Shmoly!: 21689
3. Gmail: 2176
Spam is here to stay.
02 January 2008 - January SalesThe Christmas rush is over. Sales have been bad for retailers as people suddenly realised, “Oh! The mortgage has to be paid!”
Anyway, I’m half-hoping I’ll be able to pick up a Nintendo Wii somewhere. I don’t suppose they’ll be on sale will they?
I celebrate 10 years online this year! Go me!

26 December 2007 - Irish rugby was rubbish in 2007
Irish rugby player Ronan O’Gara was the face of Samsung and many other brands this year. Apparently Samsung announced that their sales dropped because of their association with the hapless team.
21 December 2007 - Stolichnaya Russian Vodka“We had no idea how poorly he would play,” continued the Samsung spokesperson. “Not just Ronan, but the whole team. In hindsight the ‘I’m converted’ caption is quite embarrassing because his conversion record in the World Cup was shite. We’re quite disappointed with Ronan, not only did he let himself and the country down, but he let us, a multi-billion dollar company, down as well.”
A huge advertisement for Stolichnaya Russian Vodka on the side of a building near Union Square in San Francisco. It proudly stats, “Choose Authenticity”.
This is the sight that greeted me on my first night in the city!
